Bowling Green Returns To The Win Column Against Michigan Tech Friday

HOUGHTON, Mich. - The No. 16 Bowling Green State University hockey team topped the No. 17 Michigan Tech Huskies on Friday night (Jan. 10) by a score of 3-2. Alec Rauhauser paced the Falcons, scoring a short-handed goal and assisting on another. He was joined by Connor Ford in the scoring and assist columns to log a multiple-point effort in the victory. The win moves Bowling Green to 13-9-1 on the season. The Falcons and Huskies will return to the ice tomorrow for a 6:07 p.m. puck drop to conclude the series.Â
Next Home Game: The Falcons return to Slater Family Ice Arena on Jan. 17 to face Minnesota State, who is currently ranked No. 3 in the country. The Falcons and Mavericks split in Mankato earlier this season. Both Friday and Saturday are scheduled for 7:07 p.m. puck drops.Â

Scoring Plays
- The Falcons lit the lamp first on the night. Just over five minutes into the game, Cameron Wright netted his team-leading 13th goal of the season to put the Falcons up.
- Connor Ford extended the Falcons' lead with 6:35 remaining in the second period. The goal was the 28th goal this season for the Falcons on the power play. He was assisted by Alec Rauhauser and Taylor Schneider.Â
- On the penalty kill, Rauhauser netted a breakaway, short-handed goal with just 1:27 remaining in the period. Ford logged the assist.Â
- The Huskies soon answered with their first goal of the night, coming on the power play with six seconds remaining in the period. It was Parker Saretsky that scored the goal with assists from Alec Broetzman and Colin Swoyer.Â
- At the 10:31 mark in the third period, the Huskies scored their second goal to make the game a one-goal game. Seamus Donohue scored with assists from Trenton Bliss and Justin Misiak.
Other Key Plays
- Sam Craggs was called for interference with 2:21 remaining in the first period, the only penalty of the period.Â
- On the power play lone power play of the first period, the Huskies fired a barrage of shots at Eric Dop in goal for the Falcons, but Dop was able to fend off the attempts and secure the lead for Bowling Green into the second period.Â
- Early in the second period Bowling Green was called for a penalty, but just four seconds later a Husky was also sent to the box, moving to 4v4 hockey. During the span, neither team was able to net a score with the Falcons returning to 5v5 with a 1-0 lead.Â
- Less than a minute into the third period, Alex Barber clipped the puck into the net, but the goal was waved off and confirmed to be a no-goal after review.Â
- With just under a minute and a half left in the third period the Huskies pulled their goalie to have the man-advantage.Â
Falcon Stat Facts
- With his 13th goal of the season, Wright increased his team-lead in the category as well as his career-high, which previously stood at nine entering the season.Â
- With a goal and an assist, Rauhauser increased his team lead in assists and points, now with 17 assists and 25 points. Entering the game, Rauhauser was ranked fourth in the country among defensemen for points per game. The goal was also his third short-handed goal of the season.Â
- With another power play goal, Ford increased his team lead in the category, now with seven on the season. Also tallying an assist, Ford now has 22 points on the year which is second on the team.Â
