Falcons Claim Second WCHA Point In Double Overtime Against Michigan Tech

HOUGHTON, Mich. Â - The No. 16 Bowling Green State University hockey team tied the No. 17 Michigan Tech Huskies during the NCAA mandated overtime with a 2-2 score. Max Johnson netted a goal for the Falcons in the second overtime to grant Bowling Green the second WCHA point in the contest. The win moves the Falcons WCHA record to 8-6-2-2 while being 13-9-2 on the season.
Next Home Game: The Falcons return to Slater Family Ice Arena on Jan. 17 to face Minnesota State, who is currently ranked No. 3 in the country. The Falcons and Mavericks split in Mankato earlier this season. Both Friday and Saturday are scheduled for 7:07 p.m. puck drops.Â

Scoring Plays
- On the power play early in the second play the Falcons struck, coming off the stick of Cameron Wright, marking his team-leading 14th goal of the season and second in as many games. Alec Rauhauser was on the assist, his 18th of the season and 26th points, both team leads.Â
- Michigan Tech didn't take long to knot the game up. Raymond Brice was the one the net the goal with an assist from Alex Smith.Â
- In the third period, the Huskies added to their score to take a 2-1 lead. Brian Halonen scored the goal with assists from Tyler Rockwell and Matt Jurusik.Â
- With just over 11 minutes remaining in the third period Taylor Schneider fired a shot into the net to tie it up for the Falcons. Frederic Letourneau and Sam Craggs were on the assisting end.Â
- In double overtime, Max Johnson was able to find the back of the net to give the Falcons the second WCHA point for the game.Â
Falcon Stat Facts
- With the first Falcon goal of the night, Wright extended his team lead in the category to 14 goals on the season. The goal was his second in as many games, being the second time this season he has scored a goal in consecutive games.Â
- On Wright's goal, Rauhauser was credited with the assist, his 18th of the season and 26th point, both team leads.Â
- With the assist on Schneider's goal, Letourneau marked a new single-season high for assists, now with nine on the season.Â

- The Falcons will be back on the ice next week as they return to Slater Family Ice Arena to face Top-Five opponent Minnesota State on Friday and Saturday. Puck drop for both games is set for 7:07 p.m. and will mark the second series of the season between the teams, splitting the first time around.Â
