Volleyball: Five Things About Madeline Brandewie

Bowling Green, Ohio – Rising sophomore middle hitter Madeline Brandewie made a strong impression at the net for the Falcons as a freshman in 2015 and will look to build on her first-year campaign during her sophomore season in 2016.
Last year in 2015, Brandewie played in and started all 29 matches for the Falcons on the season, seeing time in all 112 sets on the year as a true freshman. The middle hitter was second on the team with 67 total blocks on the season, an average of 0.60 blocks pet set, and ranked fourth on the team in both kills with 124 spikes and in points with 163.0 points. She also recorded 32 digs on the season.
Brandewie posted a season-high 12 kills at Buffalo, recorded 11 kills in the home win over Kent State and spiked eight kills at both Pittsburgh and at Ball State. She hit a season-high .364 in the match at Middle Tennessee State and also posted an attack percentage of .333 at Pittsburgh. She turned in a season-high 7.0 blocks in the win versus Cleveland State at the Blue Raider Bash and totaled 6.0 blocks in the home win over Akron.

The Falcons will have a total of 15 home matches in 2016, the most that BGSU has had in a single season since 2005. BGSU will open up the year with back-to-back weekend home tournaments in the Hampton Inn Invitational on Aug. 26-27 and the BGSU Invitational on Sept. 2-3.
