Volleyball: Five Things About Madeline Garda

Bowling Green, Ohio – Senior defensive specialist Madeline Garda made the transition from libero to a back row defensive specialist last season where she excelled both on and off the court.
Earning a spot on the Academic All-MAC Team for the second straight year, Garda payed in all 29 matches and all 112 sets last season. She was second on the team with 327 digs, an average of 2.92 digs per set, and tied for second on the team with 25 service aces in 2015. She also had 26 set assists on the season, including a career-high 14 assists in the regular season finale when she was forced to play at the setter position due to injuries.
Garda, who totaled double digit digs in 17 different matches on the year and recorded a season-high 25 digs versus both Indiana and in the win over Notre Dame, helped to mentor freshman libero Kallie Seimet in her first season with the Falcons.
Here are five things you might not know about Madeline Garda:
The Falcons will have a total of 15 home matches in 2016, the most that BGSU has had in a single season since 2005. BGSU will open up the year with back-to-back weekend home tournaments in the Hampton Inn Invitational on Aug. 26-27 and the BGSU Invitational on Sept. 2-3.

- She is an Inclusive Early Childhood Education major and plans on teaching in her very own classroom after graduation
- If she did not aspire to teach children in the future, she would want to work with animals
- She began playing volleyball at the age of 12

- If she did not play volleyball, she would want to be a gymnast
