Falcons Soar Down to the Bluegrass State
• Bowling Green State University concludes non-conference play on Saturday when the Falcons travel to Louisville to face the Cardinals.
• The game will kick at 12 p.m. and be broadcast live on ACC Network.
Bowling Green vs. Louisville and ACC
• BGSU and Louisville are meeting for the first time in program history.
• BGSU is 4-7 all-time against current members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
• While the Falcons own wins over current and former ACC members, a victory Saturday would mark just the second in program history over a team competing in the ACC at the time of the game.
• BGSU's last game against an active ACC team came in 2023 at Georgia Tech, which also produced the program's first-ever win over an active ACC member.
Five Top Storylines
• BGSU is playing in the Commonwealth of Kentucky for the first time since 2014, when the Falcons opened the season at Western Kentucky. That contest was the first game of UL head coach Jeff Brohm's head coaching career and his debut at WKU.
• TE Jyrin Johnson has 10 receptions for 138 yards this season. His 138 receiving yards rank No. 17 nationally among tight ends, while his 10 catches rank No. 18. Both totals lead all MAC tight ends.
• LB Dorian Pringle is the only player in the nation with 25+ tackles, 6.0+ TFLs, and 1+ interceptions. He ranks No. 4 in the country with 6.0 tackles for loss.
• Pringle and CB Kal-El Pascal are two of only four players in the nation with 20+ tackles, 1+ interceptions, and 1+ forced fumble. The others are Ronan Hanafin (Clemson) and Xavian Sorey Jr. (Arkansas).
• Saturday's game at Louisville is the only time BGSU will leave the state of Ohio during the first 11 weeks of the season. The Falcons won't travel outside the Buckeye State again until Nov. 8 at Eastern Michigan. Ypsilanti is just 68 miles from BGSU's Doyt Perry Stadium.
Eddie George (The Player) vs. LouisvilleÂ
• BGSU head coach Eddie George made his collegiate debut for Ohio State against the Louisville Cardinals on Sept. 5, 1992, inside Ohio Stadium. OSU won 20-19.
• George rushed one time for three yards. Louisville head coach, Jeff Brohm, was 22-of-30 passing for 230 yards and one TD in the losing effort.
Eddie George vs. Jeff Brohm in the NFL
• While Eddie George and Jeff Brohm have never squared off as head coaches, the two crossed paths twice during their NFL playing careers.
1996 – Oilers vs. 49ers in Houston
• In George's rookie season, the Houston Oilers hosted San Francisco at the Astrodome. George shouldered the ground game with 22 carries for 77 yards, but the spotlight shifted to Brohm. Entering in relief of Steve Young after three plays, Brohm authored the best performance of his NFL career, completing 19-of-30 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown to lead the 49ers to a 10-9 win. The scoring strike was Brohm's only career NFL touchdown pass. On the other sideline, Oilers head coach Jeff Fisher directed the action—a name with BGSU ties, as his son Brandon Fisher now serves as the Falcons' associate head coach and defensive coordinator.
2000 – Titans vs. Browns in Cleveland
• Four years later, George starred in one of his signature outings back in his home state. With the Titans, he gashed the Browns for 176 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a 24-0 shutout at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Brohm was signed byÂ
Cleveland that week only as the third-string emergency quarterback but did not play in the game.

OH, REALLY - Bowling Green in Kentucky
• BGSU head football coach Eddie George was driving through Bowling Green, Ky., after attending the 2025 NFL Combine in Indianapolis when he took a call from Urban Meyer gauging his interest in the Falcons' head coaching position.
• BGSU has played six previous games in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, including three against Kentucky in Lexington (1979, 1980, 1985). The 1985 meeting proved victorious for BGSU. Greg Meehan hauled in an 11-yard pass from Brian McClure for the final offensive points in a comeback win at UK on Sept. 14, 1985. With 15 seconds remaining, the Falcon defense forced a safety to seal a 30-26 victory.
• The 1985 BGSU team stood atop the Mid-American Conference in dominant fashion. Under ninth-year head coach Denny Stolz, the Falcons stormed through the regular season with a perfect 11–0 record—the last undefeated regular season in program history.
• BGSU's first game in Kentucky came in 1940 at Eastern Kentucky in Richmond (L, 0-48). The Falcons returned to Richmond in 1950 (L, 7-34).
• BGSU most recently played in Kentucky in 2014, falling 59-31 at Western Kentucky. That game was Jeff Brohm's head coaching debut and his first win as a head coach.
Road Trips with the Falcons
• Bowling Green's 2025 road slate keeps the Falcons relatively close to home. Excluding the season finale at new MAC foe UMass, the average one-way distance for BGSU's road trips is 164 miles (approx. 2.75 hours).
• Road games include Cincinnati (180 miles), Louisville (230), Ohio (192), Kent State (137), and Eastern Michigan (82).
Bowling Green - UL connections
• BGSU defensive backs coach Derrick Jackson was the cornerbacks coach on Jeff Brohm's first two Purdue staffs (2017-18). UL offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brian Brohm was also on those two Purdue staffs with Jackson, as was UL running backs coach Chris Barclay.
• Additional connections exist between players on both rosters (see list below).
• UL Running backs coach Chris Barclay played for the Tennessee Titans when BGSU associate head coach/defensive coordinator BrandonÂ
