
Falcons Return to MAC Play on Saturday in Oxford Against the RedHawks

Falcons and RedHawks To Meet Saturday
• Bowling Green State University returns to Mid-American Conference action on Saturday when the Falcons head to Oxford to face the RedHawks at Yager Stadium.
• It is the 77th meeting between the Falcons and the RedHawks in a series that started in 1941.
Bowling Greenvs. Miami (OH)
• Miami (OH) leads the all-time series with the BGSU, 46-25-5.
• Since 2000, Bowling Green is 5-1 against MU when the Falcons hold the RedHawks below 300 yards of total offense.Â
• Since 2000, Bowling Green is 3-2 against MU when the Falcons accumulate 400+ yards of total offense.
• Since 2000, Bowling Green is 6-2 against MU when the Falcons win the turnover battle. They are 1-5 when they don't. And are 0-3 when the turnovers are the same.
Five Top Storylines
• Bowling Green earned the Cheez-It National Team of the Week honor, as selected by the All-America Committee of the Football Writers Association of America for the Falcons' win at Georgia Tech. It is the first time in program history BGSU has earned this honor.
• WR Odieu Hiliare has a catch in 40-straight games, which includes his career at Alabama A&M (2019-21). It is the sixth-best active streak in the nation. The Belle Glade, Fla., native has 177 career receptions for 2,311 career receiving yards and 21 receiving touchdowns.
• RB Terion Stewart rushed 26 times for 138 yards (5.3 ypr.) and one touchdown last time out at Georgia Tech. It marks the first time in his career he has rushed for 100+ yards in back-to-back game. He had 107 against Ohio on Sept. 23.
• Stewart has paced the run game for the Falcons the last two weeks. He has 245 rushing yards on 39 carries (6.28 ypr.) and two touchdowns over the last eight quarters of football.Â
• Finn Hogan had a career day at Georgia Tech. He made six catches for 102 yards and one touchdown. His highlight reel one-handed touchdown is the second of his college career and first as a Falcon. His other was also one-handed at Penn State while with Central Michigan.
Falcons Are Road Warriors This Month
• Bowling Green is in the middle of a three-game road swing on Saturday at Miami (OH). The Falcons will then travel to Buffalo on Oct. 14. They started the streak last Saturday at Georgia Tech.
• After Sept. 23 at against Ohio, Bowling Green will not play in the cozy confines of Doyt Perry Stadium until Oct. 21 when Akron comes to town. That is Week No. 8 of the college football season.
• BGSU is the only school in the nation that has just two home games through the first seven weeks of the college football season.
• Once the Falcons play on Oct. 21, only BGSU, Fresno State, Nevada, South Carolina, UTSA and Virginia will have played just three home games through Oct. 21. Nevada, South Carolina and UTSA will play home game No. 3 on Oct. 14. Virginia on Oct. 7 and Fresno State plays home game No. 3 on Sept. 30.
Strength of Bowling Green's Schedule
• Bowling Green's first five opponents have had a strong start to the season.
• Counting the BGSU games, the five opponents are 19-5 to start the season.
• The five teams are Liberty (4-0), Eastern Illinois (4-1), Michigan (5-0), Ohio (4-1) and Georgia Tech (2-3).Â
• Georgia Tech's three losses are to Bowling Green, No. 16 Ole Miss (4-1) and No. 25 Louisville (5-0). EIU's lone loss is to Bowling Green and Ohio's loss was at San Diego State in Week 0.
• Counting this week's opponent, Miami (OH), BGSU's first six games feature teams with a combined record of 23-6.
The Georgia Tech Win
• Bowling Green captured its first win against an ACC opponent at Georgia Tech on Sept. 30.
• The win is BGSU's fourth over a current member of the ACC and 13th against a "Power-5" opponent this century. It is the second "Power-5" win of the Scot Loeffler era (Minnesota, 2021).
• The Falcons scored 38-unanswered points after trailing early, 14-0.
• Outside the first two defensive drives of the game that gave GT an early 14-0 lead, BGSU held the Yellow Jackets to 293 yards of total offense the rest of the way.
• At one point BGSU held GT scoreless for nearly 40 minutes for a Yellow Jacket offense that entered the game averaging 33.8 points per game and was No. 17 nationally in total offense.
• RB Terion Stewart had eight rushes of 10+ yards as he led all players with 138 rushing yards. During the game Stewart also in the game became the 40th Falcon in program history to pass 1,000 career rushing yards.
• WR Finn Hogan led BGSU with six catches for 102 yards and a touchdown. His highlight reel one-handed touchdown catch was the 40th passing touchdown of QB Connor Bazelak's college career.
• Bowling Green held possession of the ball for 42:45.
Milestone Watch
• WR Odieu Hiliare needs 54 receiving yards to become the 41st Falcon to reach 1,000 receiving yards.Â
• Hiliare needs 23 receptions for 200 career receptions. He needs 25 receptions to reach 100 receptions as a Falcon.
• WR Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim needs 25 receptions to reach 200 catches for his career.Â
Offensive Highlights
• RB Ta'ron Keith (123) and TE Harold Fannin Jr. (109) each surpassed 100+ receiving yards against Eastern Illinois. Of all the schools in the nation that have had two players with 100+ receiving yards in the same game this season, BG boasts the only duo that didn't include a wide receiver.
• Of Keith's 123 receiving yards against Eastern Illinois, all came after the catch. Missouri's Luther Burden III is the only other player in the nation this year with 100+ YAC in a single game. Burden had 129 YAC yards last Saturday against Memphis.
