FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will look to capture the Palms Division Championship of the Fort Myers Tip-Off on Wednesday (Nov. 24) against Southern Utah. The game is set for a 1:30 p.m. start and will be available to stream at fswbucs.com/fswbucslive. Fans can also tune in to the action via radio on WFRO Eagle 99. The Falcons and Thunderbirds will meet for the first time in program history on Wednesday. Southern Utah will be the fourth team so far this season that Coach Huger will face for the first time as the head coach of the Falcons. Previously, Bowling Green faced Ohio Wesleyan, Ohio State and Milwaukee this season for the first time in the Huger Era.
A Bowling Green Win Would …Â
Thinking On The ThunderbirdsÂ
Southern Utah captured an overtime win over Yale in their first game in Fort Myers to advance to face Bowling Green. The game against Yale was the second consecutive overtime game for the Thunderbirds after going to two overtimes with Cal on Nov. 18. Holding a 2-3 record, Southern Utah topped Bethesda University, 116-74, in their season-opener, but fell short against Dixie State (83-76) and St. Mary's (70-51). Individually, the Thunderbirds are led by John Knight III, who is averaging 19.4 points per game through the team's first five contests.Â
Plowden Closing In On All-Time RecordÂ
In addition to being in the record book for career points, rebounds and blocks, Daeqwon Plowden is drawing closer to breaking an all-time program record. Now in his fifth season with the Falcons, Plowden has played in 128 career games for the Orange and Brown. He needs just two more games played to break Demajeo Wiggins (2015-19) record, currently set at 129 games played.Â
Double-Digits For ReeceÂ
Through the first five games of the season, Joe Reece has tallied double-digit points for the Falcons in each game, the only player on the roster to do so. Reece has posted 10 points in three games (Western Carolina, Norfolk State, Milwaukee) and put up 11 in the other two (Ohio Wesleyan, Ohio State). Reece has also managed to tally at least five rebounds in each game as well, including a season-high 12 against Western Carolina in the season-opener.Â
