ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team was defeated by the University of Nevada, 77-62, on Monday (Nov. 25) night in the Paradise Jam Championship Game. The Falcons defeated Western Kentucky and Cincinnati at the event, earning a pair of top-85 wins in the process, but ultimately fell short in the title game.
Bowling Green drops to 5-2 on the season with the loss. The Falcons out-scored the Wolf Pack in the second half by a 38-35 margin, but Nevada built up an 18-point lead at the half and maintained a double-digit lead throughout the final 20 minutes.
Nevada only shot 40.3 percent as a team, but converted on a lethal 13-of-27 (48.1 percent) attempts from downtown. The Falcons went 2-of-21 (9.5 percent) from three-point territory.
Junior forward Daeqwon Plowden led the Falcons with a team-high 13 points. Freshmen Chandler Turner (12), Dylan Swingle (9) and Davin Zeigler (5) each registering career highs scoring the basketball. Sophomore guard Caleb Fields added 10 points, while senior guard Michael Laster posted eight points and nine rebounds.
Senior guard Dylan Frye was named to the All-Tournament Team, and was named the MAC East Player of the Week on the day. Frye tied his career high with 28 points in Sunday's (Nov. 24) win over Cincinnati.
