BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team dropped a 77-72 decision to Miami University on Tuesday (Jan. 2) night at the Stroh Center. The game served as the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams.
Bowling Green drops to 9-5 (0-1 MAC) with the loss, while the RedHawks improve to 8-6 (1-0 MAC) with the road victory. Miami built a five-point halftime lead, and led for the entire second half. The Falcons got the game back within a single possessions on multiple occasions, but could never knot the score.
FALCON FACTS
• The difference in the game proved to be free throw shooting, as the Falcons went 11-for-21 (52.4 percent), while Miami went 14-for-18 (77.8 percent).
• The Falcons shot 40.9 percent (27-of-66) from the field, and 36.8 percent (7-of-19) from long range.
• Points in the paint were even at 36-36, but the Falcons had more points off turnovers (16-10), second-chance points (15-8), fast-break points (8-6) and bench points (32-24).
• Bowling Green was out-rebounded in the contest, 45-36.
• The Falcons forced 19 turnovers, and committed just 10 turnovers while dishing out 12 assists.

• Junior guard Antwon Lillard scored a season-high 15 points. He went 6-of-11 from the floor, and also had five rebounds and two assists.
• Freshman forward Daeqwon Plowden scored a career-high 11 points. Plowden went a career-best 2-for-4 from downtown, while also racking up five rebounds and two steals.
• Freshman guard Justin Turner posted 10 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals.
• Freshman forward Derek Koch finished the ballgame with six points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
• Sophomore guard Rodrick Caldwell added six points, three assists and one steal.
• Freshman guard Nelly Cummings contributed with six points, three rebounds, one assist and two steals. Cummings has at least one assist in all 14 games in 2017-18.
