Tyler Nickol joined the BGSU golf staff as an assistant coach in 2025. Nickol, a native of Avon, Ind., serves as an assistant for both the men's and women's golf teams at BGSU.Â
Prior to working at BGSU, Nickol worked as an assistant golf professional at Ulen Country Club in Lebanon, Ind. In this role, he gained experience analyzing and instructing golf at a range of levels, as well as assisting with daily golf course operations.Â
Prior to his time at Ulen, Nickol completed an internship with the American Junior Golf Association, where he worked as a Tournament Operations Intern. In this role, Nickol gained experience in the administrative and event planning aspects of golf, as he helped coordinate junior golf tournaments across the US.
Prior to his time working as a professional within the golf industry, Nickol was a four year member of the men's golf program at Kentucky Wesleyan College (KWC). At KWC, he earned All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference honors twice, Cobalt Golf All-America scholar honors twice, and in 2024, won the GMAC Championship shooting a 209 and finishing -7 under par.Â
During his senior year at KWC, Nickol played in 29 rounds and held a scoring average of 72.3 per round. He earned four top-three finishes in stroke play tournaments, and finished victorious twice, including the GMAC Championship. With his win at the GMAC Championship, he helped KWC qualify for the Medal Match Play Final, where KWC competed against Findlay for the team GMAC title. In the match play final, Nickol won his match, shooting -1 under par and helping KWC win the GMAC title.Â
