HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first batter of the game ended with a web gem from Falcon second baseman Landon Roque as he dove towards second base and delivered a strike to TJ Takats for the first out of the game.
- After a few slow innings to start, Falcon fielders delivered another strong defensive play. Nathan Archer caught a line drive on an Ohio hit-and-run and then threw a laser back to Takats at first to double off the runner to end the top half of the third.
- The first run of the game came on a leadoff home run by DJ Newman in the bottom of the fourth to put BGSU on top 1-0 through four innings played.
- After a scoreless fifth, Bowling Green added to their tally in the sixth with a two-out rally. Tyler Ross singled to left before stealing second and taking third on a throwing error during the steal. Jack Krause was able to float a single to left as well, scoring Ross for a 2-0 BGSU advantage.
- With a career day from Landon Willeman, the Falcons went to Jacob Turner in relief with one out in the seventh. Turner worked two groundouts to exit the inning, both being categorized as gold glove-caliber plays by Leighton Banjoff at third, using a diving stop for the first and playing the short hop on the second.
- Turner worked a scoreless eighth inning as well, including another highlight play at third. With runners at second and third with two outs, Banjoff utilized a backhand down the line and a strong throw to end the inning with the score still at 2-0.
- In the top of the ninth, Ohio recorded four runs to move in front 4-2.
- Bowling Green attempted to answer in the bottom half. Roque knocked a single to begin the bottom half and took second on a wild pitch. A fly out later in the inning moved Roque to third and a walk to Wright put runners at the corners, but BGSU was able to get a run across, concluding the game with a 4-2 score.
