CCHA-leading Bowling Green enters Thursday’s tilt on six-game win streak
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Bowling Green Falcons (14-12-0, 11-7-0 CCHA) will hit the road for the first time in 2023, traveling to Minnesota for a series with the St. Thomas Tommies (6-15-1, 5-10-1 CCHA). The series begins on Thursday, Jan. 19, then continues on Friday, Jan. 20. Both games will be played at 8:07 p.m. ET in the St. Thomas Ice Arena. The Falcons are riding a six-game win streak that has catapulted them to the top of the CCHA standings, totaling 35 conference points.

Opponent Outlook
St. Thomas is coming off a weekend split with then-No. 13 Michigan Tech, with their Saturday victory marking the program's first win over a ranked D-I opponent. Aaron Trotter, who stopped 63-of-66 shots in the series, was named CCHA Rookie of the Week on Monday. Trotter has also earned CCHA Goaltender of the Week once. Josh Eernisse and Jake Braccini have also earned CCHA Rookie of the Week this season, with Eernisse currently leading the team in goals (11). Lucas Wahlin leads the Tommies in assists (14) and points (17). The University of St. Thomas recently announced a $75 million gift from Lee and Penny Anderson that will be used to construct an arena for the UST men's and women's basketball and hockey programs.

Bowling Green is 6-0-0 in the all-time series, taking all but one contest in regulation. The Falcons swept the series in Bowling Green in November, with both games finishing at 3-2. Ryan O'Hara led the way with three points, while Austen Swankler scored the game-winning goal in the final minute of the Saturday contest. 11 different players recorded a point for the Tommies, including Jake Braccini, who had an assist in each game.

- Taylor Schneider became the program's 76th player in program history to reach 100 career points, joining teammate Alex Barber in the exclusive club. The Falcons are one of three teams in the nation with multiple 100-point scorers. Chase Gresock is closing in on the century mark, standing at 94 career points, including 21 this season.
- Austen Swankler enters Thursday on a NCAA-best 16-game scoring streak, tallying 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points in this span. He has 15 goals and 21 assists for 36 points this season, leading the CCHA in all three categories. Nationally, he is second in points, tied for third in goals, and fifth in assists. He is the only player in the country with over 15 goals and 15 assists.
- Ryan O'Hara (eight games) and Nathan Burke (five games) also enter the series on scoring streaks. O'Hara ranks second in the conference and 15th in the country in scoring with 25 points, while Burke is tied with Ethan Scardina for second in the league and sixth in the nation with six power play goals.
- Quinn Emerson and Jaden Grant each scored shorthanded goals against Bemidji State, giving the Falcons a league-best six on the season. This total is tied for second in the NCAA. Emerson and Taylor Schneider each have two, tying for fifth in the nation.
- BGSU ranks second in the conference and sixth in the country in power play percentage (25.7%), while leading the conference and ranking third nationally in power play goals (27).
