STOW, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team wrapped up its 2021 spring season on Saturday (April 24) at the Mid-American Conference Championships. This year's event was held at Silver Lake Country Club. BGSU carded its best round of the tournament in the third round, posting a final-round 324 to finish ahead of Central Michigan.
"The past year has been a challenging time for all of us. Thank you to all our administrators for their strong leadership that allowed us to compete this spring," said head coach Stephanie Young. "After two years since our last MAC Championship, we were excited to represent BGSU this week. The highlight of this season was our annual home invitational where we finished runner-up and enjoyed playing in front of a huge home crowd."
Nichole Cox led the Falcons with a career-best finish at the MAC Championships. Cox finished T-23, posting a 239. Her round-two 76 was BGSU's low round for the weekend. Cox has performed well at all three MAC Championships that she's competed in for Bowling Green. Her 239 this weekend ties her MAC Championship low, as she also posted a 239 at the 2019 championships. In 2018, Cox was BGSU's second-highest finisher with a 241, placing only behind current Falcon assistant Erin Fahey.
Kayla Davis finished T-36, finishing up another strong season in the Orange and Brown. Davis' round-one 79 was Bowling Green's second-lowest round at the championship. Along with Cox, Sammi Blackburn also posted a career-best finish, placing T-42.
Aly Kovach and Emily Pantig-Nystrom finished their seasons with their best round of the tournament in round three. Pantig-Nystrom had one birdie in all three rounds, while Kovach registered two birdies apiece in rounds two and three.
