ATHENS, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team was defeated by Ohio University on Sunday (March 31) afternoon by a score of 12-4. The ballgame was played at OU's Bob Wren Stadium. Ohio on the final two games of the weekend series after the Falcons won the series opener on Friday (March 29) night.
Bowling Green sits at 4-2 in Mid-American Conference play. The Falcons are 9-14 overall in 2019. Ohio improves to 7-18 (3-3 MAC) with the win.
The Falcons got off to a fantastic start, scoring twice in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Brad Croy and Riley Minorik lined RBI singles up the box to get the BGSU offense going. However, Ohio would go on to plate one in the bottom half of the inning, before scoring nine more runs over the next three innings.
Neil Lambert continued his stellar season with a base hit and RBI in the third inning, while Anthony Smith drove in a run in a pinch-hitting role in the top of the ninth.
David Stopp turned in a strong relief appearance for the Orange and Brown, surrendering just one run over 3.0 innings of work. Stopp struck out three and did not issue a walk.
