FIRST-QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
• BGSU held UND to a three-and-out on the opening possession. On a second-down pass play, Caleb Biggers tackled Michael Young for a loss of two yards. Then, Jordan Anderson stopped Irish QB Ian Book after a 2-yard gain on third down, bringing up fourth-and-4.
• BG was held to a three-and-out as well, and Matt Naranjo got off a 52-yard punt, with Brandon Perce tackling the Irish punt returner for a loss of six.
• But, on the next drive, the Irish went 80 yards to take the lead. Tony Jones Jr. gained 40 yards on four-straight carries to begin the drive, and Book then completed passes to Javon McKinley and Tommy Trumble. The latter pass was a 17-yard touchdown toss.
• BG was forced to punt on the next possession, with Naranjo getting off a 50-yard punt. But, Chris Finke returned the punt 25 yards, setting up the Irish at the BGSU 46-yard line.
• Notre Dame doubled the lead on the ensuing drive, with Book finding Cole Kmec on a 21-yard pass for the touchdown.
• Book found Chase Claypool for a 34-yard TD on the next Notre Dame drive, with 4:44 remaining in the opening quarter.
• Grant Loy and the Falcons picked up a first down on the next drive, as Loy carried for seven yards, then scrambled for eight more on a third-down play.
• After a nine-yard run by Loy on the very next play, Davon Jones picked up three yards to give BG another first down near midfield. Then, on a third-and-2 play, Loy found Quintin Morris for nine more yards and a first down at the Irish 34-yard line.
• Loy hooked up with Morris for another nine-yard gain on third-and-7, putting the Falcons at the Notre Dame 22-yard line as the opening quarter came to a close.
SECOND-QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
• The Falcons' drive stalled, and a Naranjo put pinned Notre Dame at the 14-yard line. On that Irish drive, back-to-back incompletions – including a third-down pass that was broken up by JaJuan Hudson – forced the home team to punt.
• BG began the next drive at the nine-yard line, but Bryson Denley gained 11 yards on a pair of runs to pick up a first down, and Loy found Morris for a 24-yard gain down the right sideline, putting the Falcons at the 44.
• The Falcons got just over midfield, but BG was stopped short of the line to make on a fourth-down play, and the Irish took over at the ND 47.
• Notre Dame extended the lead on an eight-yard Book-to-Claypool completion with 6:49 remaining in the half.
• Denley gained nine yards on a third-and-9 play on the next drive, and the Falcons got out near midfield before the drive stalled.
• Book's fifth TD pass of the day was a 25-yard completion to McKinley with 1:24 remaining in the half, capping a 78-yard drive.
• Jones rushed for 17 yards on the first play of the next drive, and after he picked up six more yards, Denley went up for middle for 16 yards to the Notre Dame 37. On the final play of the first half, with the Falcons at the 34-yard line, Loy's pass into the end zone was intercepted.
THIRD-QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
• After the band Chicago performed with the Notre Dame marching band at halftime, the Falcons picked up a first down on the opening drive of the second half, as Loy found Denley for 12 yards.
• Loy hit Morris cutting across the middle for a 15-yard gain and a first down at the ND 45-yard line. Several plays later, on a third-and-9 play, another Loy-to-Morris 15-yard connection set the Falcons up at the 29. From there, though, the Irish held, and a 40-yard field-goal attempt by Nate Needham was blocked.
• Two big runs by Tony Jones Jr. put the Irish into the red zone. Book's pass into the end zone on the next play was broken up by Anderson, and a third-down incompletion forced Notre Dame to settle for a field-goal try. Jonathan Doerer's 27-yard kick was good.
• On the next drive, Loy hit Morris on a third-and-8 play, picking up the yardage needed for a first down. Morris made his 10th catch of the day later on that drive, but the Falcons were forced to punt.
• Phil Jurkovec's seven-yard TD toss to Avery Davis gave the Irish a 45-0 lead with 2:23 left in the quarter.
• Jones gained a total of 14 yards on the first three plays of the next drive, giving the Brown and Orange a first down as the quarter came to a close.
FOURTH-QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
• Perce broke up a second-down pass on Notre Dame's first drive of the final quarter, but a penalty on the next play gave the Irish a first down. Later in the drive, Jurkovec scrambled for 19 yards, and several plays later, C'Bo Flemister scored from a yard out, capping the scoring with 6:56 to go.
