NEED-TO-KNOW INFORMATION
(We provide these three fascinating facts only on a need-to-know basis; If you don't know, now you know.)
>> The Falcons finished last season ranked among the bottom 10 teams in the country in both assists and assists per game. This year, BGSU leads the MAC in assists per game, and the Falcons are second in the conference in total assists.

Cole has posted double-figure minutes-played totals in each of BG's last four games, and is averaging 4.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in the first two conference games.
TURN THEM OVER AND MAKE THEM PAY
The Falcons did not score more than 17 points off of opponent turnovers in any of the first 11 games of the season. However, in the first two MAC matchups, BGSU has scored a total of 50 points off of turnovers.
BG had a season-high total of 27 points off turnovers in the MAC opener vs. Western Michigan, with a 27-11 advantage in that category. Then, on Wednesday (Jan. 9), the Brown and Orange scored 23 points off of Ball State's turnovers.
LENDING A HELPING HAND
Last season, the Falcons were close to last in the nation in both assists and assists per game. With a total of 277 assists and an average of 9.2 helpers per game, BGSU was ranked 343rd (out of 349 teams) in the former category and 345th in the latter.
This season, BGSU is 29th in the country – and first in the MAC – with 17.3 assists per game, having nearly doubled this year's total. The Falcons are second in the league and 62nd in the land with a total of 225 assists per game.
To put it another way: If BGSU averages three assists per game over the remainder of the 2018-19 schedule, the Falcons will top last season's assist total.
BGSU AMONG THE NCAA ASSISTS LEADERS
Year   Assists (Rank)   Assists/Game (Rank)
2017-18Â Â 277 (343rd of 349)Â Â 9.2 (345th of 349)
2018-19*Â 225 (62nd of 349)Â Â Â 17.3 (29th of 349)
* as of Thursday morning, Jan. 10
SHARING IS CARING
Last season, no Falcon player had more than five assists in a game. This year, through 13 games, BGSU players have had at least five helpers in a game 15 times. Freshman Kadie Hempfling has had six or more assists on six occasions, and senior Sydney Lambert has had five such games.
MADDIE MAKES HER MARK
Senior Maddie Cole saw action in just three of the Falcons' first nine games, playing a total of nine minutes, scoring three points and grabbing two rebounds.
Over the last four contests, however, Cole has played a total of 50 minutes, for an average of 12.5 minutes per game. She has totals of 12 points and 12 rebounds in that time.
Cole is averaging 4.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game over the Falcons' first two MAC matches. She has made 5-of-7 shots from the field in the last three games.
THREE-MARKABLE
The Falcons made 'only' nine three-point field goals in Wednesday's (Jan. 9) game at Ball State. That snapped a school-record streak of five consecutive games in which BGSU had hit at least 10 long-range shots.
The just-snapped streak broke the record set by the 1999-2000 Falcons, who made 10 or more triples in four consecutive games from Feb. 7-19, 2000.
BGSU has made at least 10 treys eight times in this season's 13 games. The 2009-10 squad owns the school record with 13 games of 10 or more long-range makes.
FALCONS VS. THE MAC
The Falcons continue to own the best record in MAC history. Entering the Akron game, BGSU has an all-time record of 405-212 (.656) in MAC regular-season games, for the most wins and highest winning percentage of all league institutions.
And, BG leads the series with all 11 MAC foes, making the Falcons the only team in the league with a winning series record against every other school. BG also has the most overall victories and highest overall winning pct. of any league institution.
PERRY'S PRODUCTIVE IN THE POST
Sophomore Angela Perry has been making her presence felt in the post for the Falcons this season. She was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field en route to a 13-point day at Ball State on Wednesday (Jan. 9).
Entering Saturday's Akron game, Perry is shooting 63.8 percent from the field, having made 51 of her 80 shots. She leads the MAC and ranks 12th in the entire nation in field-goal percentage.
Perry, who missed the non-conference portion of her freshman season due to injury, scored 75 points in 18 games last winter. This year, she has 127 points in just 10 games.
LAMBERT'S LEGACY: 1,000-POINT SCORER MOVES INTO BG'S TOP 25
Senior Sydney Lambert scored a game-high 18 points in the win over Davis & Elkins on Dec. 30. Her final two points of that game came on a foul-line jumper with 8:06 left in the fourth quarter, and put her over the 1,000-point mark for her career.
Lambert became the 28th player in school history to reach the milestone. She scored her 1,000th career point in her 100th career game at BG. Lambert has averaged at least 9.4 points per game in every season at BG, and is averaging 12.2 ppg this season and 10.2 ppg in her career.Â
With a game-high 22 points in the Western Michigan game and 14 more at Ball State, Lambert has moved into 25th place on the BGSU career scoring list with 1,037 career points. Her next target on that list is Megan McGuire (1985-89), who scored 1,062 points in a BG uniform.
LAMBERT'S LEGACY II: START ME UP
Senior Sydney Lambert has started every game since coming to BG, and has made 102 career starts – ranking 10th in program history – entering the Akron game. If she is in the lineup on Saturday, she would move within one of ninth place Sara Puthoff (104 starts from 1994-98) on that list.
BG has at least 17 games left on the 2018-19 schedule, meaning Lambert has a realistic chance to finish her career as high as fifth in school history in games started. BGSU Hall-of-Famers Kate Achter (124 from 2004-08) and Jackie Motycka (115 from 1985-89) rank fourth and fifth, respectively, on the BG list for career starts.
LAMBERT'S LEGACY III: SYD-THREE LAMBERT
Senior Sydney Lambert's first successful three-point field goal in the Falcons' win at Canisius (Dec. 8) was the 200th of her BGSU career. She became just the fourth Falcon to make 200 career three-pointers, and she now has 215 long-range makes. Lambert is just one triple away from tying Liz Honegger (216 three-pointers from 2003-07) for third place.
Lambert is averaging just over two treys per game in her career, and if she keeps up that pace, she will move past not only Honegger, but also Tracy Pontius (235 from 2007-11), to finish her career in second place on the BGSU list.
MORGAN'S McMAKIN SHOTS
Freshman Morgan McMillen is ranked 10th in the country in three-point field goals made per game.
McMillen has hit 47 triples through her first 13 collegiate contests, an average of 3.62 long-distance makes per game. She has made at least three triples in 10 of the 13 games, including four contests with five or more successful treys.
ANDREA THREE-CIL
Junior Andrea Cecil has been on fire from beyond the arc this season to date. Cecil has hit 43.4 percent of her three-point attempts, ranking her 41st in the entire nation in three-point field-goal percentage.
Through 13 games this season, Cecil has made 33 three-pointers, smashing her total (24) for all of last year.
KADIE CAN DOÂ
Freshman Kadie Hempfling has taken just over five shots per game this year, but still is averaging nearly six points per contest. And, she has helped the Falcons in a veritable plethora of ways in addition to scoring.
Hempfling leads the Falcons in rebounding, with 9.6 boards per game. She has pulled down 10 or more rebounds in eight of her first 13 games as a Falcon.
The Ottawa, Ohio, native also leads the team in steals, and is second on the Falcons in assists. Over the last three games, Hempfling has averaged 10.7 boards, 5.3 helpers and 3.7 steals per contest.
THE FALCONS: A QUICK OVERVIEW

The Brown and Orange topped Davis & Elkins by a 63-28 score to wrap up non-conference play (Dec. 30).
BG fell at Michigan State in the season opener, but the Falcons then won three-straight games, topping Marshall, Robert Morris and Loyola Chicago, 88-74, at the Stroh Center. The Falcons dropped the next three games before putting together the aforementioned four-game win streak.

Four Falcons are averaging over 12 points per game. Freshman Morgan McMillen has 16.2 points per contest, and has scored in double digits in 11 of her first 13 career outings. McMillen tied the school single-game record with eight triples vs. Marshall (in her second collegiate game), and she is shooting 37.6% from the arc, having gone 47-for-125 from long range.
Junior Andrea Cecil has 15.9 ppg to date, and has scored 96 points in the last five games (19.2 ppg in that time). Cecil is also second on the Falcons in rebounding, with 5.1 boards per game. She has had 19 or more points seven times this season, and is shooting 43.4% from three-point land.
Sophomore Angela Perry has 12.7 points per game and is shooting 63.8% from the floor, good for 12th in the nation. Perry, who has seen action in 10 games, has already obliterated her point total for all of last season.
Senior Sydney Lambert is averaging 12.2 ppg and leads the team with 4.5 assists. She has hit 28 treys, good for third on the team, and also has 4.3 boards per outing.
Freshman Kadie Hempfling and sophomore Madisen Parker have 5.9 and 5.5 ppg, respectively. Hempfling has a BG-best 9.6 rebounds per game, and she is also averaging 4.5 assists per game to rank second on the Falcons in that category (58 total assists to Lambert's 59). She has had eight double-digit rebounding totals in her first 13 games. Parker has gone 19-of-49 (38.8%) from three-point range this year, including a perfect 3-for-3 in each of two Falcon wins.
BGSU returned a total of 10 letterwinners, including three starters, from last year's team that finished with an 11-19 overall record and a 3-15 mark in MAC play.
A QUICK LOOK AT AKRON
Akron is 10-3 on the season, and the Zips are 1-1 in MAC play after a 72-59 road win over Western Michigan on Wednesday (Jan. 9). UA has already topped the overall win total for all of last season. Akron is 4-1 at home, 2-2 on the road and 4-0 at neutral sites. Megan Sefcik leads the team with 16.5 points per game, and has hit 41 three-pointers this season. Shaunay Edmonds and Haliegh Reinoehl have 10.0 and 9.4 ppg, respectively, while two other Zips are averaging at least 7.7 ppg. Melissa Jackson, in her first season as head coach after 10 years as an assistant at UA, welcomed back eight letterwinners, including all five starters, from last year's team that finished 9-21 overall and 3-15 in MAC play.
THE SERIES
The Falcons lead Akron, 55-7, in the all-time series between the teams, and BGSU won each of the last four meetings, including a pair last year. BG won a 66-64 thriller in Akron (Jan.
