Falcons Take Two from Holy Cross and Lehigh on Thursday

Bradenton, Fla. - Bowling Green (7-1) improved its winning streak to seven games with a 10-3 victory over Holy Cross and an 8-7 win over Lehigh on Thursday. The two games were part of BGSU's Spring Break trip in Bradenton, Fla.
In game one, the Falcons made the most of their eight hits, with three of them being extra-base hits. Senior Kevin Longstreth smacked a home run, junior Nolan Reimold had a triple, and sophomore Josh Dietz had a double. BGSU broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, then extended upon that with six runs in the seventh inning.
Senior left-hander Keith Laughlin (2-1) picked up the win, pitching seven innings and allowing just two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts. Greg Becker pitched the final two innings. Reimold and Dietz each finished with a pair of hits.
In game two, BGSU tied the score in the bottom of the sixth inning 8-8, then plated the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to register its seventh-straight victory of the season. Senior Andy Hudak drove in junior Dash Yost from from third base with a single. Reimold knocked his second triple in as many games while Hudak had a double for the Falcons.
Yost, who batted leadoff, went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. His three hits and three RBIs are new career-highs. Hudak was the only other Falcon with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-5 with three RBIs.
Senior Matt Hundley (1-0) earned the victory, pitching the last inning with no hits, one walk and one strikeout. Senior Kyle Knoblauch pitched four innings, surrendering six runs (five earned) on seven hits. Freshman Nick Cantrell pitched four innings, allowing one run on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts.
BGSU will play Eastern Kentucky today, March 11, at 2:30 p.m. in Bradenton, Fla. The Falcons end their Spring Break trip against Indiana on Saturday at 10 a.m.
