YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) - Markus Austin scored 25 points in Eastern Michigan's 78-75 overtime victory over Bowling Green on Saturday.
Austin hit 5-of-9 shots from behind the 3-point line and scored 19 points in the second half as the Eagles (13-14, 7-11 Mid-American) rallied from a 38-33 halftime deficit.
Neither team led by more than four points in the second half and each had a chance to win in the closing seconds of regulation. Eastern's James Douglas and JaQuan Hart each missed with less than five seconds remaining, giving Bowling Green a final chance. After Hart deflected a long inbounds pass out of bounds, the Falcons (8-10, 13-16) inbounded from just beyond midcourt with 1.2 seconds left. But John Reimold's shot hit the side of the backboard at the buzzer.
Bowling Green had a chance to tie the game at the end of overtime, but both Cory Eyink and Josh Almanson missed 3-point attempts before the buzzer sounded.
Ronald Lewis hit 18-of-18 free throws and led the Falcons with 24 points.
Eastern will travel to Marshall for the first round of the MAC tournament on Monday, while Bowling Green will host Ohio.
