Notre Dame Sets Back Falcon Icers, 6-3

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green cut an early 3-0 deficit in the first period to just one goal early in the third period before visiting Notre Dame scored three unanswered goals within a 10-minute span for a 6-3 Central Collegiate Hockey Association win at BGSU Ice Arena. There were 2,506 in attendance.
Notre Dame scored twice within the first five and one-half minutes of the game, first from a power play goal by David Inman at 3:27 and then off of an even-strength goal from Tom Galvin at 5:15. One more goal at 12:03 from Aaron Gill made it a 3-0 Irish lead in the first period. Notre Dame was 2-for-4 on its power plays in the first 20 minutes of the game.
Bowling Green slowly started to work its way back into the mix in the second period thanks to a 13-11 shot advantage in the second 20 minutes of play. Then, at 17:44, sophomore Kevin Bieksa scored his second goal of the season on a power play to put the Falcons on the board. The man-advantage goal snapped a 0-for-24 skid for BGSU on the power play. Defensemen Grady Moore and Brian Escobedo assisted on the goal.
Sophomore D'Arcy McConvey moved the home team to within one of the Irish with Bowling Green's second power play goal of the game at 1:27 of the third period. It was his first goal since the season-opener at Maine. Moore and Greg Day assisted on the goal.
However, Galvin stopped Bowling Green's momentum just over a minute later with his second goal of the game at 2:36 in the third period. Notre Dame scored two more times before sophomore Roger Leonard gave the Falcons their third goal of the night at 17:08. Colen Pappas and McConvey assisted on the goal.
Notre Dame outshot the Falcons 32-31 for the game and finished 2-for-6 on the power play. BGSU was 2-for-9 on its power play attempts. The two teams combined for 23 penalties.
ND goalie Morgan Cey had 28 saves in the net while Tyler Masters had 26 for BGSU.
Notre Dame improves to 5-6-4 overall and 5-3-3 in the CCHA. Bowling Green drops to 4-9-4 overall and 3-8-2 in the CCHA.
Bowling Green concludes the weekend series with the Irish on Saturday at the BGSU Ice Arena. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
