John Hartman

John Hartman, a graduate of nearby Napoleon High School, came to BG in the fall of 1931 and won his freshman numerals in track. Not only did Hartman compete in track, he also lettered in football and basketball during his time at BGSU. During his sophomore season as a sprinter and hurdler, his track career really took off. Hartman competed in four events in Bowling Green's first appearance in the Ohio Conference meet. In the 1934 Ohio Conference meet, Hartman won the 220-yard dash and took fifth in high hurdles. Hartman was also BGSU's first track athlete to complete the 100-meter dash in 10 seconds.
John Hartman was elected to the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1966.
