Bowling Green Climbs Standings With Individual Crowns and PRs

Haintz and Neal win titles; Emberton, Fernandes, Lucas, and Patterson land on podium
AKRON, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons continued competition at the 2023 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday (May 12), climbing the standings to conclude the day in fifth. Mateya Haintz opened the second day with a conference title in the hammer throw, recording a mark of 197-1.00 (60.08m) that is the best of her BGSU career. The throws dominance carried into the shot put, where Zaresha Neal repeated her performance from the indoor MAC Championship and took the shot put crown. She threw 52-9.75 (16.10m), earning her fourth career MAC title. She was backed in the event by Reagan Emberton, who placed sixth, the same spot she finished during the indoor championship.
In the heptathlon, Jenna Lucas placed sixth and Destiny Fernandes finished eighth to add to the Falcon point total. Lucas totaled an astounding six personal records over the weekend, including a heptathlon PR of 4,956 that puts her second in school history. Fernandes totaled 4,599 points, a personal record that puts her fifth in school history. Morgan Patterson also landed a spot on the podium, finishing seventh in the long jump. She leaped a PR of 19-5.00 (5.92m) that ranks her eighth in program history.
DaMya Barker ran a PR of 13.95 in the 100 hurdles, which puts her third in school history. Fellow freshman Morgan Patterson finished in 14.17 seconds, which puts her seventh in the program record book. Kami Baker logged a hammer throw PR, with Ashley Kisor running the fastest 400 of her outdoor season.

Falcon Facts
- Mateya Haintz won the hammer throw with a mark of 197-1.00 (60.08m), her best throw as a Falcon. This is her first career MAC title and gives the Falcons a conference champion in the hammer throw for six of the past 10 MAC Championships. Haintz joins Brooke Pleger, who won in 2013, 2014, and 2015, and Kaila Butler, who won in 2019 and 2022.
- Zaresha Neal won her fourth career MAC title and second of her outdoor career, throwing the shot put 52-9.75 (16.10m). That mark is 20th in program history, giving her nine of the top-20. The senior also won the shot put at the 2023 MAC Indoor Championship, with today's win marking her first outdoor shot put title.
- Morgan Patterson had a long jump PR of 19-5.00 (5.92m) that ranks her eighth in program history. She was seventh in the event, putting her on the podium and scoring two team points. This was her second time placing at MACs, with the first being the long jump at the indoor championship.
- Reagan Emberton threw 46-3.00 (14.10m) to place sixth in the shot put, the same spot she finished at the MAC Indoor Championship. Her mark today was the second-best of her career. Emberton threw the hammer 149-6.00 (45.57m), her second-best mark of the season and third-best of her career.
- Jenna Lucas had a heptathlon PR of 4.956, placing sixth in the event to notch three team points. Her score is the second-best in program history. She finished her outstanding with two more PRs, leaping 18-2.00 (5.54m) in the long jump and running the 800 in 2:37.04. The freshman has landed on the MAC Championship podium three times in her career, with her previous two events being the pentathlon and javelin.
- Destiny Fernandes earned a spot on the podium in the heptathlon for the second consecutive season. She placed eighth with a score of 4,599, which ranks her fifth in school history. In the 800, she ran a PR of 2:32.72. She also had a season-best mark of 17-1.00 (5.21m) in the long jump.
- DaMya Barker (13.95) and Morgan Patterson (14.17) both ran PRs in the 100 hurdles. With these times, Barker ranks third and Patterson ranks seventh in program history.
- Kami Baker recorded a hammer throw PR of 162-2.00 (49.43m), placing 10th. She was just one foot shy of qualifying for the finals.
- Darian Braddix ran a 100 PR of 11.98, her second PR of the weekend.
- Ashley Kisor ran the 400 in 59.27, her best outdoor time of the season.
- Alexis Parchman ran the 100 in 12.29 seconds, her fastest non-wind-aided time of the season.
- Raegan Burkey finished the 800 in 2:16.84, less than a second shy of her PR.
