Bowling Green Splits Battle Of I-75 Following Friday Loss

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis program came up short against the Toledo Rockets on Friday (April 2) in a 4-3 final. The Falcons were able to tally three singles points, but were one shy of the win in the match. The loss moves Bowling Green to 8-5 this season while being 4-3 in the conference. The loss is also just the first at home for the Orange and Brown after a 5-0 start. The Falcons will be back to the court next Friday (April 9), traveling to face Eastern Michigan before returning home on April 11 to host Ball State.

Making Of The Match
- The day began with Toledo capturing the doubles point, proving to be pivotal in the 4-3 final.
- In singles, the Falcons saw three wins, beginning with Ayumi Sasaki at No. 3 singles. Sasaki began with a 6-0 victory in the first set followed by a 6-1 win in the second to allow her opponent just a single point for the entire day.
- Selina Karg also picked up a singles win for Bowling Green, playing at No. 5 singles. Karg tallied a 6-3 final in the first set before taking the second set at 6-1 for the win.
- The final singles point for the Falcons came at No. 2 singles where Ioanna Tsadari went three sets. Tsadari won the first 6-4. After losing the second set, she battled back in the third to win 6-2.
Falcon Stat Facts
- With a singles win, Ayumi Sasaki moved up to a tie for 22nd all-time with Patty Bank with 63 career singles wins. The win also moved her up the combined wins list, bringing her total to 117 wins, tied for 26th all-time with Julie Weisblatt.

- Bowling Green will return to the courts next weekend as they travel to face Eastern Michigan on April 9 before returning home on April 11 to host Ball State. Both matches are set for 1 p.m. starts.
