All 11 BGSU players to see action score at least two points and grab a rebound
The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team wrapped up the non-conference schedule on a successful note, downing Davis & Elkins College, 91-52, inside the Stroh Center on Monday evening (Dec. 30).
With the win, the Falcons improve to 4-0 at the Stroh Center and 7-5 on the season.
In BGSU's first home game in exactly six weeks, all 11 Falcons who saw action in the game scored at least two points and had one or more rebounds.
Fourth-year Falcon Caterrion Thompson led all players with 20 points in the win, while sophomore Morgan McMillen came off the bench to hit four three-point field goals en route to 14 points in under 13 minutes.
Junior Angela Perry rounded out BGSU's double-figure scorers with 12 points in just over 11 minutes of action.
BGSU shot 53 percent from the field in the win, and the Orange and Brown outrebounded the Senators, 44-31.
The game featured eight lead changes, all in the opening quarter. After Thompson hit a jumper in the paint with just over four minutes gone, the Falcons never trailed again.
That Thompson bucket began a 15-2 run which concluded with the Falcons scoring 10-straight points. Junior Madisen Parker knocked down a pair of three-pointers during that run, with her second triple giving BG a 24-12 lead late in the period.
When BGSU began the second quarter with another 10-0 run, the hosts led by 20 points. The Falcons' lead never dropped below 19 points thereafter, and McMillen's fourth triple of the game gave BG a 40-point lead – the largest of the night – late in the fourth quarter.
Freshman Kaillie Hall was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field en route to nine points, with Parker and sophomore Kadie Hempfling had eight points apiece. Hempfling, who went 3-for-3 from the floor, had game-high totals of 10 rebounds and six assists in 22 minutes of action.
Freshman Olivia Trice had six points, seven boards and four assists, while classmate Elissa Brett had five points and six caroms. Hall had four assists in addition to her nine points.
Senior Clare Glowniak made both of her shots from the field en route to four points, while junior Mari Hill scored three points and senior Jane Uecker two.
FIRST QUARTER
• As mentioned, the opening four-plus minutes featured eight lead changes. Junior Angela Perry had five of BGSU's first nine points, but when D&E's Jamiyah Johnson hit a layup at the 6:07 mark, the Senators had a 10-9 lead.
• Fourth-year Falcon Caterrion Thompson, however, knocked down a driving jump-stop shot off glass just 15 seconds later, giving the Falcons the lead for good.
• Junior Mari Hill knocked down a three-pointer, and after Jessica Eadsforth-Yates answered with a jumper, junior Madisen Parker – who had fed Hill for the triple, took a Hill pass and drained a trey of her own. That shot gave BG a 17-12 lead and also began a 10-0 run for the Brown and Orange.
• Thompson hit a jumper, then grabbed a defensive rebound and fired a long pass ahead to a streaking Kaillie Hall for a transition layup and a 21-12 lead. When Hall found Parker for another triple, the Falcons had a 12-point advantage.
SECOND QUARTER
• After the visitors scored in the final minute of the first quarter, the Falcons promptly began the second period with another 10-0 run. Sophomore Kadie Hempfling corralled a defensive rebound, then ran the floor. She displayed some nifty moves before fiding Thompson for a three-pointer and a 27-14 advantage.
• Hall found Perry for a long two-pointer, and the freshman then fed Hempfling for a baseline layup. When soph Morgan McMillen knocked down a three-point try, BG's lead was 34-14.
• Peyton Mohler's layup snapped Falcon runs of 10-0, 20-2 and 25-4. But, moments later, Thompson hit a spinning jumper, and a Perry turnaround one-hander began a quick 8-0 run.
• Freshman Olivia Trice, who had the assist on Perry's bucket, scored the game's next four points, on a driving baseline layup and a transition bucket with BG running off of a Thompson defensive rebound. Trice's latter hoop gave BG a 43-18 lead, then Thompson pulled down another defensive board and went coast to coast for a hoop of her own.
• The Senators' Allie Taylor scored the final five points of the half, with her three-pointer cutting BG's lead to 45-23 at the break.
THIRD QUARTER
• BG scored the first seven points of the third period to go ahead by 29. Hempfling fed Perry for an and-one bucket, and after a Hempfling steal, the soph whipped a pass to Parker for a layup and a 52-23 advantage.
• Senior Clare Glowniak banked home a shot, and Trice found a wide-open Elissa Brett underneath the hoop. Brett's bucket gave the Falcons a 57-28 lead.
• Brett grabbed a missed shot and hit a highlight-reel shot, quickly putting the ball back up and in as she fell to the ground. Senior Jane Uecker found Hall for a triple, and a pair of Uecker free throws gave BG a 28-point lead late in the quarter. Thompson's three-ball capped the third-period scoring and put BG up by 31 points, 69-38.

FOURTH QUARTER
• Hempfling hit a layup in the opening minute of the period, and after BG went just over two minutes without a field goal, Glowniak took a Parker pass and quickly banked a shot off glass and in. Hall's pull-up shot gave the Falcons a 76-44 lead with 6:24 to go.
• McMillen hit a three-pointer off of a Hall inbounds pass after the fourth-quarter media timeout, and the sophomore then converted a layup after a defensive rebound and long pass by Trice.
• McMillen hit another shot from the arc with 3:22 to go, and after a pair of Trice charity tosses, McMillen's third triple of the quarter gave BG an 89-49 lead with 1:37 remaining. Hall capped the game's scoring with a layup with 45 seconds on the clock.
