Ball State Snaps Volleyball's Win Streak in 3-1 Comeback

MUNCIE, Ind. – After a dominate opening set by the Falcons, Ball State (14-8, 6-3 MAC) rebounded to claim a four-set win over the Bowling Green volleyball program (11-9, 7-2 MAC) to snap the Falcons seven-match win streak. The Falcons opened with a set win of 25-12 then battled to extra points in the second, although the Cardinals were able to claim the next three sets by scores of 26-24, 25-15, and 25-20. With a conference record of 7-2, Bowling Green remains on the top of the MAC East Division heading into tomorrow's match at Toledo.

- Sophomore setter Isabelle Marciniak tallied her team-leading ninth double-double of the season when she earned a team-high of 18 digs in addition to 36 assists against the Cardinals.
- Bowling Green had two players in senior Nicole Slimko and sophomore Jessi Holly earn double-digit kills, each with 12 and 10, respectively. While on defense, three Falcons tallied double-digit digs including Marciniak (18) as well as junior libero Kallie Seimet (17) and sophomore Paulina Iacobelli (11). At the line, Iacobelli also earned one of the Falcons four service aces on the night.
- Continuing to be a standout at the net was junior Madeline Brandewie, who by marking one solo block and eight block assists, tied her season-high of 9.0 total blocks to lead the Falcons defensively versus the Cardinals.
- Bowling Green opened by hitting a .481 on the attack, which is a season-high for the team in a single set through all of 2017, but ultimately finished the night with a total team percentage at .208.
- With 14.0 total team blocks on the night, it is now the Falcons third consecutive match posting double-digit blocks, after earning 11.0 in a 3-1 win against Eastern Michigan, followed by a season-high of 16.0 in the 3-0 sweep of Central Michigan.
- Overall, Bowling Green held the advantage in hitting percentage (.208-.188) and total team blocks (14.0-4.0), although Ball State held the edge in kills (57-47) and service aces (6-4).
- A narrow match, the pair of conference rivals battled through 14 tie scores and eight lead changes over the course of the four sets, including a match high of six ties and five lead changes in the extra-point second set.

- The Bowling Green volleyball program will remain on the road as the take on Toledo in the Battle of I-75. The pair of conference foes will face off tomorrow, Oct. 21 in a 5:30 p.m. first serve in Toledo.
