Maumee, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis team was defeated by the University of Toledo in the Battle of I-75, 6-1, Friday afternoon at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club.

The Rockets were solid in doubles play picking up the point over BGSU. The Falcons' senior Drew Fillis and freshman Paula Comella were leading Emily Mazzola and Sidnay Huck, 5-4, but the match was halted when UT clinched the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 slots.

Sophomore Emily Witt and freshman Polina Radeva battled with Megan Miller and Lauren Thai in No. 2 doubles. Witt and Radeva led the match, 4-2, before UT tied it up at 4-4, the Rockets pulled away to win, 6-4.

In singles action, BGSU's Comella improved her record to 10-6 this season after defeating Huck at the No. 2 spot. Comella led Huck the entire match, winning the first set, 6-1 and the second set, 6-2.

Radeva lost the first set to Mazzola, 6-2, at the No. 1 singles spot, but bounced back to force a third set after winning the second set, 6-2. In the third set, Radeva led, 3-1, yet UT's Mazzola rallied to win the set, 6-3, to take the match.

The Falcons return to Bowling Green Sunday, April 10, to host Eastern Michigan in MAC play. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. on Keefe Courts.
