Siefker led all players in both scoring and rebounding, with a career-high 17 points and 13 rebounds. Eight of her boards came at the offensive end of the floor, as she single-handedly topped the Senators' team total in that category. Siefker also had three assists in the win.
BGSU held a 50-35 rebounding advantage on the night, and the Falcons had 21 offensive boards to D&E's five.
Sophomore Carly Santoro joined Siefker in double figures, with 11 points on the night, and Santoro pulled down seven boards, including four offensive rebounds.
Senior Rachel Konieczki scored nine points, while sophomore Sydney Lambert added eight and junior Rachel Myers seven. Lambert added a game-high four assists.
Siefker has had two double-doubles in as many home games this season to date. She is averaging 15.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game in the Falcons' two contests at the Stroh.
BGSU had advantages of 34-12 in points in the paint, 26-4 in points off turnovers and 13-2 in second-chance points on the night. The Falcons forced the visitors into 20 turnovers.
After holding a three-point lead after the first quarter, the Falcons opened up a 40-26 lead at halftime. BG scored the first four points of the third quarter, and the lead never dropped below 16 points again.
Alicia Roth led Davis & Elkins with seven points, while three of her teammates had six. That group included Jay Kilpatrick, Tajee Pledger and Kali Wilburn.
After the Senators took an early lead, Siefker grabbed an offensive rebound and put the ball back up and in. Then, Lambert found Myers for a three-point field goal on the break, and the Falcons had a 5-3 lead.
The visitors forged back ahead, 8-7, but Santoro drained a pair of free-throw tries, and senior Ashley Tunstall lobbed the ball inside to Siefker for a layup and an 11-8 lead. Then, Myers hit a jumper for a five-point advantage midway through the period.
Stephanie Wooten, D&E's leading scorer, countered with a three-pointer, but Tunstall answered with a long-range shot of her own off of a Siefker feed, putting the Brown and Orange ahead, 16-11. Again the visitors answered, as Kilpatrick's three-ball began a 7-0 run that put the Senators ahead with 1:30 left in the period. But, off of an inbounds pass by Konieczki, Santoro connected from long distance to give BG the lead for good.
In the final seconds of the period, a BG shot was off the mark. But, sophomore Maddie Cole went into the air to rebound the ball, and in one motion laid it back up and in as the horn sounded. Cole's buzzer-beating bucket gave the Falcons a 21-18 lead after one period of play.
The second quarter saw Lambert hit back-to-back three-pointers to give the home team a 27-18 lead with two minutes gone, prompting a D&E timeout. Lambert's first trey came after junior Haley Puk spotted the open point guard in the left corner, and the second triple came from the right side after a Santoro pass.
Nicole Armstrong knocked down a three-pointer for the visitors, but layups by Siefker and Lambert gave the Falcons a 10-point lead. Roth answered with a long distance shot, but Siefker scored inside, then found Konieczki for a shot from beyond the arc that upped the margin to 12.
Konieczki scored seven of her nine points in the final 2:42 of the half. She got to the line and knocked down a pair of shots, and she stole the ball from Kayle James and sailed downcourt for a layup with just 3.7 seconds left in the period, giving the Falcons a 40-26 lead at the intermission.
Siefker nearly had a double-double in the first half alone, with 10 points and nine rebounds.
A Siefker layup opened the third-quarter scoring, and a steal and layup by Myers made it a 44-26 game. BG continued to turn defense into offense, as a Siefker steal led to a Santoro layup, and Santoro deflected a pass, then got out in front to take a Myers pass and hit an uncontested layup for a 48-28 lead midway through the period.
The Senators scored four-straight points, all at the free-throw line, but Siefker scored inside, and freshman Andrea Cecil knocked down a three with 1:41 left in the quarter, giving BG a 53-34 lead. BG hit eight three-pointers in the win, with seven different Falcons making at least one three-point attempt.
Freshman Clare Glowniak closed the Falcons' third-quarter scoring with a short-corner jumper, and BG led by a 55-38 count after 30 minutes.
The Falcons outscored the visitors, 18-8, in the fourth period. After a Kilpatrick free throw on the first possession of the quarter, BG scored eight-straight points, including a three-pointer by Puk and layups by Santoro and Siefker. Siefker's bucket was part of a three-point play, and her charity toss put the hosts ahead, 63-39, with 7:02 to go.
After a pair of free throws by Kilpatrick and a Roth jumper (D&E's lone field goal in the first 9:30 of the period), BG went on a 10-0 run. Freshman Caterrion Thompson's jumper began that stretch, and Thompson rebounded a teammate's miss and hit another shot. Konieczki went 2-for-2 at the line, and Glowniak found fellow freshman Jane Uecker for a foul-line jumper. Cecil's two shots from the stripe gave BG a 30-point lead before James banked home a three-point try with 23 seconds left to close the scoring.
Siefker went 8-for-12 from the floor in the game, setting career bests in both field goals made and attempted. With 66 points this season (9.4 per game), she has topped her total for all of last year.
The Falcons will continue a three-game home swing on Sunday (Dec. 4), when the University of Virginia comes to town. It will be Marching Band Day at the Stroh Center for the 2:00 p.m. contest, as the entire Falcon Marching Band will be in attendance.
