Lebanon, Ohio – All five Falcon golfers lowered their scores from round one to round two on Saturday, as the Bowling Green State University women's golf team overcame the rain, the wind and the cold to shoot a second round 306, +18, the second lowest team score of the day, to move up two spots on the team leaderboard heading into the third and final round of play of the 2015 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships on Sunday, April 26.
The Falcons jumped two places, moving from eighth-place to sixth-place overall on Saturday with their round of 306, +18, to head into the third day of play with a 36-hole team score of 634, +58. The 306 was a total of 22 strokes lower than BGSU's team score of 328, 40, on the first day of play on Friday.
"I am so proud of our team today! Obviously our scores improved, but it was more about how hard they fought and played much smarter golf with confidence," commented head coach Stephanie Young. "That is why there is not any other team I would rather coach."
BGSU's strong round on Saturday put the Falcons just six strokes behind fifth-place Akron (628, +52) and only 12 shots out of the top-three.
