PLEGER REMAINS UNBEATEN
Sophomore Brook Pleger continues to obliterate her personal best and remains unbeaten in the weight throw this year. She opened the indoor season by setting her career best with a toss of 59-feet-8.25 to win the Eagles Holiday Meet, hosted by Eastern Michigan. In that meet, she met the automatic qualifying mark for the Indoor MAC Championships. She followed that up by winning the Bowling Green Opener with a throw of 61-7 and then posted a distance of 61-10.25 to win the Harvey-Simmons Invitational.
SINCLAIR MAKES A SPLASH
After spending two years at Duquesne and placing 16th in the 400 in the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships, Brittany Sinclair transferred to Bowling Green. Competing in Brown and Orange for the first time, Sinclair posted a time of 57.49 in the 400 at the Bowling Green Opener, ranking in the top 10 in the MAC.
GATES LEAPS TO SUCCESS
Dana Gates is another transfer making an immediate impact at Bowling Green. After spending two years at Barton Community College and placing second in the long jump at the 2012 NJCAA Indoor National Championships, she has gotten off to a strong start in her BGSU career. Gates is the only BGSU student-athlete to rank in the top 20 in the MAC in multiple events, ranking 19th in the long jump and 20th in the triple jump. Her best long jump so far at BGSU is 17-feet-4.75, almost a foot shy of her leap of 18-4 at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships a year ago.
MOVING FORWARD
While sophomore Krystin Reiser has not yet qualified for the MAC Indoor Championships in the long jump, she has set a new personal best in each of the team's first three meets. She opened with a leap of 15-feet-5.5, improved to 15-7.5 and jumped 15-9 this past weekend at the Harvey-Simmons Invitational.
TAYLOR MAKING STRIDES
True freshman Demetra Taylor continues to push her time in the 60 hurdles to new levels. In her first collegiate meet, she ran the event in 9.19 seconds and then improved to 9.15 in the BGSU Opener prelims. She followed that up with a time of 9.13 at the Harvey-Simmons Invitational this past weekend.
NEW FACES

James Gildon works primarily with the team's jump, sprint and hurdle groups, while McKayla Plank assists with both the cross country and track and field programs. Gildon comes to BGSU after serving as an assistant coach at Fort Hayes State University, while Plank was a standout distance runner at Georgia.
ACADEMIC SUCCESS
The BGSU track and field team has been named a United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for each of the past six years. The Falcons had a 3.24 combined grade point average to earn the award in 2012, fifth-best among MAC schools.
