Falcons Sweep Robert Morris To Complete Weekend

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team completed a 3-1 weekend at Pittsburgh's Blue and Gold Invitational with a 25-22, 25-19, 25-20 sweep of Robert Morris Saturday evening. The Falcons improved to 5-9 on the season with the win and Robert Morris fell to 3-12.
Paige Penrod, who was named to the all-tournament team, and Noelle Spitler had 11 kills each as the Falcons held a 42-35 edge in kills. Danielle Tonyan added nine on a .471 attack percentage.
Bowling Green never trailed by more than one point in the entire match, jumping out early and holding off any comeback attempts.
Ashley Dunn had a match-high 20 digs and Laura Avila handed out a match-best 21 assists. Spitler added two aces and two blocks to her 11 kills and Emily Kauth finished with seven kills and three blocks, while hitting .462.
Bowling Green will now try to continue its solid play as the Falcons open Mid-American Conference play this weekend. BGSU will play at Akron Friday at 7 p.m. and at Buffalo Saturday at 5 p.m.
