
Falcons Dominate the Seawolves, 3-1

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Falcons finished the Holiday Inn Buena Park Classic with a 2-1 record this weekend, after a decisive win over the Stony Brook University Seawolves, 30-19, 23-30, 30-23, 30-25.
BGSU volleyball came out firing and ready to go taking an early 4-0 lead in the game one. Once the Falcons grabbed a hold of the lead there was no turning back. The Falcons continued to play aggressive, pushing their lead to 12 points, 22-10. The Falcons finished game one, 30-19. Game one was all Falcons as they hit a .471 with 18 kills and only two errors and held the Seawolves to .119 hitting percentage.
The Falcons continued their aggressive play jumping out to a 6-0 lead in game two. Despite the early lead the Seawolves battled back and came within two, 19-17. The Seawolves put together and eight point run, giving them a 25-20 lead. Game two slipped away from the Falcons as the lost, 23-30.
The Falcons turned things around in game three and got back on track. The Falcons took a hold of the lead and didn't let it go all game. The Orange and Brown held the Seawolves to a .056 hitting percentage, their lowest in the match and won game three 30-23.
The Falcons once again took the lead early on in game four, but the Seawolves weren't to eager to let the Falcons go. The Seawolves fought hard but once the Falcons took a 22-20 lead and ran five points to gain a 27-20 lead it was all over. The Falcons finished game four 30-25 with a kill from Corey Domek assisted by Sam Fish. In game four the Falcon offense came alive again hitting .375 with 18 kills.
Fish distributed to the ball on offense for the Falcons finding all the right hitters collecting 42 assists and 10 digs, her second straight double-double this weekend. The Falcons' offense was on fire with four hitters in double-digits. Stephanie Swiger and Madeline Means led the Falcon attack each putting away 12 kills. Means also picked up 15 digs recording her fourth double-double of the season. Also contributing to the Falcons' attack were Kendra Halm with 11 kills and Domek with 10 kills. Solid on the defense efforts for the Falcons was Chelsey Meek with 16 digs.
Fish and Meek were named to the All-Tournament team after both having a solid weekend of play at the Titan Classic. Fish finished the weekend with 95 assists averaging 9.50 a game, 24 digs, 11 kills, and seven service aces. Fish also recorded two double-doubles this weekend in each of their victories. Meek recorded 67 digs averaging 5.58 a game, eight assists, four service aces, and one kill this weekend.
The Orange and Brown travel to New Mexico next weekend to take on New Mexico on Friday (Sept. 7) and Gonzaga and Northern Colorado Saturday (Sept. 8)
