NATIONAL GIRLS & WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY
>> Wednesday's WMU game will be part of National Girls & Women in Sports Day (presented by GKN Driveline) at BG. BGSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will conduct a clinic from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, which will feature each of Bowling Green's women's athletic teams interacting and engaging with children to teach the importance of sport participation, leadership and leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
>> All participants will receive a bottled water for use during the clinic, as well as a complimentary ticket to the BGSU-WMU game. Registration for the clinic is limited to the first 75 children in grades 1-8, and the link to register can be found near the top of this very page.
GOOD AS GOLDS
>> Wednesday is Lindsey Goldsberry Bobblehead Night, and the first 400 fans through the Stroh Center doors will receive a free bobblehead. Goldsberry (now Lindsey Goldsberry Sweeney) is expected to be in attendance at Wednesday night's game.
>> Goldsberry finished her career as the winningest player – man or woman – in MAC basketball history. The Falcons posted an overall record of 114-20 in her four years with the Falcons, an average of 28.5 wins and just 5.0 losses per season. BG went 59-5 in MAC regular-season play during her four years and advanced to the NCAA Championships and the WNIT twice each during that time.
>> Prior to the start of the 2005-06 season, Goldsberry's freshman year, no MAC women's basketball team had ever won more than 27 games in a season. The Falcons surpassed the 27-win total three times in her four seasons, with a 28-3 mark in her freshman year of 2005-06 and a 29-5 record (including a school-record 25 consecutive wins) in her senior season of '08-09.
>> And, Goldsberry was a member of the 2006-07 BGSU team that went 31-4 and advanced to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Championships. The win total remains a MAC single-season record, and the '06-07 Falcons remain the only women's hoops program in league history to make an NCAA "Sweet Sixteen" appearance.
