A TRADITION OF SUCCESS
>> Bowling Green has won 14 MAC regular-season championships and 11 league tournament titles, the highest totals among all conference teams. Prior to the injury-plagued season of 2014-15, the Falcons had won at least 20 games in a MAC-record 11 consecutive seasons. BG won at least 24 games in nine-straight seasons during that span, losing just 18 total games in MAC regular-season play during those nine years.
>> The Falcons made 10 consecutive national postseason trips from 2005-14, with five NCAA Championships appearances and five trips to the WNIT during that time. The 2006-07 team was the most successful in MAC history, winning a league-record 31 games en route to an NCAA 'Sweet Sixteen' appearance.
>> Overall, BGSU has won 20 or more games 19 times, the highest total among all Mid-American Conference women's basketball-playing institutions.
SCOUTING TOLEDO
Toledo is 15-7 on the season, and the Rockets are 6-5 in MAC play after a 72-66 win at Western Michigan on Wednesday. UT is 8-4 at home, 6-2 on the road and 1-1 in neutral-site games this season. In MAC play, the Rockets are 3-3 at home and 3-2 on the road. Janice Monakana leads a balanced attack with 12.5 points per game, while Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott (12.2 ppg), Mikaela Boyd (11.1) and Kaayla McIntyre (10.0) all are scoring in double digits as well. Boyd has a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game, while McIntyre is shooting 63.6 percent from the field. Head coach Tricia Cullop welcomed back nine letterwinners, including three starters, from a year ago. Last year, the Rockets went 17-13 overall and 12-6 in the MAC.
THE SERIES
The Falcons lead Toledo, 42-32, in the all-time series between the teams, but the Rockets have won the last three meetings. In the last game, the Falcons rallied back from 19 points down to tie the score, before UT pulled out a 68-60 victory at the Stroh Center (Feb. 17, 2016). The last meeting at Savage Arena came less than three weeks earlier (Jan. 30, 2016), and saw UT post a 75-61 win. UT has won seven of the last nine games after BGSU captured the previous 12 series meetings. BG is 20-11 in home games, 14-18 on the road and 8-3 in neutral-site matchups with Toledo over the years.
UP NEXT
Following the UT game, the Falcons will return home to face Western Michigan on Wednesday (Feb. 15). That game will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Stroh Center.
