Celebrating 50 Years Of The Doyt
The Bowling Green Falcons put a six-game winning streak on the line when they hosted the Ball State Cardinals on Oct. 22, 1994. The Falcons erupted for 31 second-quarter points, and quarterback Ryan Henry threw six touchdown passes to lead BGSU to a 59-36 victory.
Â
BGSU took a 7-0 lead on a Courtney Davis run late in a first quarter that in no way foretold what was to come. Henry scored on a 12-yard scramble just 1:04 into the second quarter for a 14-0 lead, and that kicked off the most prolific scoring quarter in Falcon history. Bowling Green posted 31 points, including four touchdowns in less than nine minutes. Henry threw three touchdowns to account for all four in the frame.
Â
The Falcons led by as much as 38-14 just before halftime, but the Cardinals added a touchdown with six seconds left in the half, then scored nine more points to start the third quarter. Ahead just 38-30, Henry led BGSU on three more scoring drives, each of which he punctuated with touchdown passes. His game total of six remains a school record. BSU scored one final time late in the fourth for the final 59-36 margin.
Â
Henry finished the game with 17 completions, 340 yards passing, six passing touchdowns and a rushing score. Davis combined for 142 rushing and receiving yards and two touchdowns. Ronnie Redd caught four balls for 111 yards, while Rameir Martin scored twice on four catches for 54 yards.
Â
The win featured season highs in total yards (540) and first downs (31) for BGSU. It was the seventh of what became nine straight wins as the Falcons completed the 1994 season with a 9-2 record.
