CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the 2016-17 men's basketball conference schedule Tuesday morning (Sept. 6). The Falcons will play a total of 18 MAC contests, with nine games slated to be hosted inside of the Stroh Center. The schedule is highlighted by the first home-and-home series with Toledo since the 2013-14 campaign.
The nine games in the Stroh Center feature clashes with East-foes Ohio, Miami, Buffalo, Akron and Kent State, with cross-divisional matchups against Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ball State and Toledo. The Falcons will compete in the Battle of I-75 versus UT on Jan. 17 inside of Savage Arena, and on Feb. 4 at the Stroh Center.
"I am very pleased with how our MAC schedule turned out for this season," said head coach Michael Huger. "From top to bottom, the MAC is an incredibly challenging league, where any team can win on any given night. Opening up conference play on the road at Akron, which will be a semifinals rematch from the 2016 MAC Tournament, will be exciting for our team. We will have the opportunity to play Ball State and Toledo twice this season -- both of which should draw an exciting crowd in the Stroh Center. Our MAC slate will conclude with five of our last eight games being on the road, which will prepare us for the MAC Tournament and postseason play. I am excited to get the season started, and I think our fans will enjoy watching an exciting brand of basketball this season."

The Falcons will open up conference play with consecutive road games, starting with a Jan. 3 contest at Akron. Bowling Green will then travel to Muncie, Indiana to take on Ball State on Jan. 7.
BGSU's MAC opener at the Stroh Center will take place Jan. 10 versus Eastern Michigan. Northern Illinois will travel to Bowling Green for another cross-divisional matchup on Jan. 14, before the Orange and Brown travel down I-75 to face Toledo on Jan. 17.
Bowling Green will then welcome Ball State to the Stroh Jan. 21, prior to traveling to Mount Pleasant, Michigan to face Central Michigan on Jan. 24. The CMU matchup will conclude a stretch in which the Falcons will play six-consecutive games against MAC West opponents.
The Orange and Brown will finish off the month of January with home games against Ohio (Jan. 28) and Miami (Jan. 31). Bowling Green will then play a third-straight home game on Feb. 4 as the Falcons welcome the Rockets for the second leg of the Battle of I-75.
After the three-game home stand, Coach Huger's Falcons will head to the M.A.C. Center for a Feb. 7 tilt with Kent State. Buffalo will then come to town on Feb. 11, before the Falcons play a pair of road games at Western Michigan (Feb. 14) and Ohio (Feb. 18).
With three more games left in the month of February, the Falcons will host Akron on Feb. 21, travel to Millett Hall to take on Miami Feb. 25, and close out the month with Senior Day versus Kent State on Feb. 28. Bowling Green's regular season finale is slated for March 3 at Buffalo.
