Senior striker is second Falcon to earn national recognition in as many days
Bowling Green State University men's soccer standout Pat Flynn has earned national team-of-the-week honors. On Tuesday morning (Oct. 11), Flynn was one of 11 players across the country named to the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week.
Flynn earns this honor for the second time this season. He was named to the TDS National Team of the Week on Aug. 30 as well. Additionally, he is the second Falcon in as many days to be named to a national team of the week. Junior Alexis Souahy was similarly honored by College Soccer News on Monday (Oct. 10).

Flynn, a native of Naperville, Ill. (Central), was involved in a pair of goals early in the second half last week, as the Falcons posted a 2-0-0 record on the road. Flynn drew the primary assist on the tying goal an hour into BGSU's come-from-behind 2-1 win at Northern Kentucky on Tuesday evening (Oct. 4). With a nod of his head, he redirected a right-side cross to the left side of the six-yard box, finding Souahy for the tying goal.
Then, on Friday night (Oct. 7), Flynn scored in the 53rd minute for what proved to be the lone goal of the match, giving BGSU a 1-0 victory over No. 22 West Virginia. The Falcons won the conference opener for the first time since the 2011 season, and BG's win over the Mountaineers is the Falcons' first victory over a top-25 team since that 2011 campaign. BG has won each of the last three meetings with WVU.
On the season, Flynn has a team-high 12 points. He is tied for the BG lead with four goals, and is deadlocked for second on the club with four assists. Flynn now has career totals of 27 goals and 66 points at BGSU, in just his third year with the Falcons. He is deadlocked for seventh on the school's career goals list, and he is tied for ninth at BG in career points.
The goal at WVU was the ninth game-winning goal of Flynn's career, moving him into sole possession of fourth place on that BG chart.
The Falcons are 8-3-1 overall and 1-0-0 in MAC play, heading into a home match vs. Western Michigan on Saturday night (Oct. 15). Kickoff for that contest is set for 7:00 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium, and admission is free.
