The Countdown Begins! Top Stories of 2012-13

For the fourth year in a row, BGSU Athletics will be counting down the top stories of the year all summer long. 2012-13 was a banner year for athletics at BGSU and the list of best moments of the year is arguably the strongest since beginning this annual event.
We will release the list one at a time throughout the summer until the No. 1 story of the year is announced on Aug. 5 -- just as BGSU football camp gets underway and the 2013-14 season has officially started! Don't forget to purchase your season tickets NOW!

Tennis Defeats Western Michigan For First Time In School History; Earns No. 2 Seed For MAC Tournament
On the final day of the regular season, the BGSU tennis team faced quite the set of circumstances. The Falcons needed to defeat Western Michigan just to qualify for the MAC Tournament. That task, in fact, seemed incredibly difficult considering WMU had won all 38 matches the two programs had ever played against each other. But not only did BGSU pull out a 5-2 win, the Falcons earned the No. 2 seed for the MAC Tournament. READ THE FULL STORY
Women's Basketball Defeats Nationally Ranked And Undefeated Dayton 65-40
The BGSU women's basketball team faced one of its stiffest tests in recent history in late December. The Falcons welcomed No. 14 Dayton, sporting a 12-0 record, into the Stroh Center. The Falcons, though, dismantled the Flyers for the program's fifth victory against a nationally ranked team in program history. READ THE FULL STORY
Paige Berger Breaks BGSU Softball Home Run Record
From the time she put on the Orange and Brown as a freshman, Paige Berger appeared to be the heir apparent to BGSU softball's home run record. She broke the school's single-season home run record with 12 that year (making the notable moments list) and added 11 more as a sophomore. In 2012, she hit seven more homers and then on April 2, 2013, Berger hit two home runs in the opening contest of a doubleheader with Detroit, giving her 33 for her career, a new program record. Tennis Beats Toledo For Program-Record 12th Consecutive Win
While BGSU tennis closed the season in dramatic fashion, the Falcons opened the season in record-breaking form. After losing the season opener, Bowling Green won 12 consecutive matches, a new school record. And the Falcons did it by beating arch rival Toledo by a score of 6-1. READ THE FULL STORY
BGSU Football Upsets Ohio On National Television
With hopes of a MAC East Division championship on the line for both teams, Bowling Green headed to Athens to face Ohio for Wednesday night #MACtion on ESPN2. After falling behind 7-0, BGSU scored 19 straight points and defeated the Bobcats 26-14 with a suffocating defensive performance. READ THE FULL STORY
