Sensing a repeat of last year's MAC regular season championship, Bowling Green has been tabbed No. 1 in the latest MAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
Falcons Top Preseason Coaches Poll for 2010 Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A season after winning their second consecutive Mid-American Conference regular season title, the Bowling Green Falcons remain atop the conference in the eyes of the coaches. The league office announced today that BGSU has been voted number one in this year's preseason coaches' poll.
Bowling Green tops the Eastern Division with 64 points in the poll while the 2009 MAC Tournament champion Kent State Golden Flashes linger just behind the Falcons in the second position. Ohio, Miami, Akron and Buffalo round out the East.
Rivaled in the West, the top spot went to Ball State University (72 points) with arch rival Toledo pulling in at second (52 points). Following Ball State and Toledo are Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois and Western Michigan, respectively.
In their quest for the their consecutive regular season championship, reigning MAC Coach of the Year Danny Schmitz and the Falcons will return 20 letterwinners, 12 position players and eight pitchers from a season ago. Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year, Brennan Smith, will highlight the pitching staff while in the field, Bowling Green possesses three additional all-conference selections in Logan Meisler (first team), and second team selections Tyler Elkins and Derek Spencer.
Last season the Falcons were selected to finish third in the Eastern Division before completing the season with a 28-22 overall mark (18-8, MAC) en route to their second regular season championship in as many years. Bowling Green will begin their season in Louisville, Ky. when they play the Cardinals on Feb. 19 to open the 2010 season.
