Getting to Know ... Christine Chiricosta
June 29, 2010 | Women's Tennis, Tennis
The 2009-10 academic year has ended, obviously, but the Bowling Green State University tennis student-athletes are hard at work preparing for 2010-11. Today, we begin a new feature here at BGSUFalcons.com, in which we give you the opportunity to learn a little more about your favorite Falcons. We begin with two-time Academic All-American Christine Chiricosta ...
Name: Christine Chiricosta
Sport: Tennis
Nicknames: Powerpack, Tine, CC
My favorite song is: "Wow" by Brandy
My favorite movie is: The Blind Side
My favorite TV show is: Law and Order: Special Victims Unit ------------>
My most prized possession is: my house
I chose BGSU because: I chose BGSU for a lot of different reasons. I chose BGSU because it is in a strong conference, has a great education program, and, most importantly, because the girls on the team and the coach are so nice and down to earth.
My favorite place on campus is: The Bowen Thompson Student Union because: It is brand new, has a Starbucks, and is a great place to hang out with friends in between classes.
The coolest thing about BGSU is: the women's tennis team
Superpower I would want: omniscience
Name of a reality TV show I would create: "True Life: I Play Tennis for BGSU"
Favorite Penny Dean saying: "Kat-can-do!" or "FREEBIE" or "Honey Dean"
My teammates would say I'm: passionate and competitive
The best advice I've ever been given: When I was younger my dad would tell me that I didn't always have to be the best everything in the world, but I did always have to be the best Christine Chiricosta in the world.
The teammate I admire most is: Jes Easdale because I have seen her overcome a lot challenges, especially injuries, and she is always so graceful under pressure. Her work ethic is second to none and she is very passionate about what she does!
The athlete I admire most is: Rafael Nadal because he exemplifies outstanding sportsmanship at all times, he is passionate about his work, and he appreciates his family for all that they have done for him.
My biggest superstition is: If I win the point during a match, I keep serving with the same ball, but if I lose the point, I swap it out for one of the other balls.
Other than tennis, my favorite sport to play is: Beach volleyball
My favorite sport to watch is: Basketball
Favorite quote: "It is not enough to put your heart and soul into something; the really important things require much more than that."
My favorite food is: Buffalo Chicken Ranch Wrap from Buffalo Wild Wings
My first pet's name was: Oreo
When I was 10 years old, I wanted to be: a detective or a spy. I practiced by spying on my older brother and his friends, and then I would write down everything that I saw in a composition notebook!
If I could trade places with one person, it would be: Detective Olivia Benson from Law and Order: Special Victims Unit
If I was Penny Dean for a day, I would: give the whole team a freebie from practice
Best nickname I have ever had: Powerpack
The phrase I overuse the most: "No, no, no, no, no, no, no. You see the thing is…"
<----------- The song I love to sing karaoke to: Whitney Houston "I Wanna Dance with Somebody"
I am totally addicted to: Cheese quesadillas from Taco Bell
The person (living or dead) I would most like to meet is: Shakira, because she has given a lot to our educational system in America. Plus, I want to learn how to dance like her!
If I could hop on a plane right now, I would go to: Italy
In a movie about Penny Dean's life, the actor who should play her is: there could never be another Penny Dean.
I would be the perfect person to: do an impersonation of just about anyone!
My favorite BGSU tennis moment so far is: breaking the school record for most consecutive wins at the start of a season with my team freshman year!
In 10 years, I would like to be: Living in Cleveland with a family of my own, teaching high school English and making an impact on children's lives
My goal(s) for the 2010-11 season is/are: To win the MAC Championship and go to NCAA's, to earn All-MAC and Academic All-MAC, and to be a leader for my team!
One final thing about me that you might find interesting: I have three cats - Papa Smokey, Gizmo, and Angel!
