In 2005, Roberts guided MAC Champions, Pierre Vinson and Clarence Glenn to All-American honors at the Indoor NCAA Nationals. At the Indoor conference meet, Roberts coached the top placers in the 60-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter, 60-meter hurdles, and 4x400-meter relay. Vinson also capped off the indoor season by receiving the Most Valuable Participant award at the conference meet. Roberts continued in his winning ways by guiding the sprinters and hurdlers to numerous MAC titles at the Outdoor Championships. Roberts's athletes took the 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter, 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles MAC titles home. Outdoors, Vinson once again accepted the Most Valuable Participant award. Roberts capped the 2005 by sending four athletes to the Mid-East Regional.
