Falcons Head to Kalamazoo

Oct. 9, 2008

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University tennis team heads to Kalamazoo, Mich., this weekend, to compete in the Fall Mid-American Conference Invitational. The three-day event runs from Friday (Oct. 10) through Sunday (Oct. 12) at Western Michigan University's Sorensen Courts.

Every MAC team is scheduled to be represented at the tournament -- BGSU, WMU, Akron, Ball State, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Miami, Northern Illinois and Toledo. No team scores will be kept.

Each player will participate in three rounds of singles and three rounds of doubles, with champions crowned in eight singles flights and four doubles flights. Action begins at 10:00 a.m. each morning.

Entering the weekend, sophomore Christine Chiricosta has a perfect 6-0 singles record, while three teammates -- seniors Libby Harrison and Stefanie Menoff and junior Samantha Kintzel -- each are 5-1 in singles play to date. Chiricosta has teamed with senior Kelsey Jakupcin for a 4-2 doubles mark this fall.
