Five Falcons Earn Scholastic All-America Honors

Aug. 7, 2008

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Five Bowling Green State University student-athletes have been named 2008 Scholastic All-Americans by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women. Morgan Balzer, Amber Brewer, Megan Chronister, Michelle Luchini and Marissa Saneholtz all earned the honor.

Saneholtz, a senior on the 2007-08 team, was named an NACGC/W Scholastic All-American for the fourth time in her illustrious Falcon career. Balzer, Brewer and Chronister, all sophomores on head coach Kerrie Beach's '07-08 squad, each earned the award for the second consecutive year. Luchini, a freshman on last year's team, picked up the honor for the first time.

"I am proud of our athletes representing BGSU gymnastics in the classroom," said Beach. "It has always been a goal for our program to provide a balance between academics and athletics.

"Morgan, Megan, Marissa, Michelle and Amber are great examples of this. We look forward to continued progress in both the athletic and academic arenas."

In order to be considered for the award, individual student-athletes must have posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better for the 2007-08 academic year.
