The Falcon men finished 27th among 42 schools in the race, which traditionally features nearly every school, regardless of division, in the state of Ohio.

The BG women had a score of 128 points to trail only Cedarville (74) and Cincinnati (96). The Falcons had two runners finish in the top-12, and BGSU defeated all of the other Mid-American Conference schools entered in the meet -- Ohio (4th), Kent State (7th), Akron (8th) and Toledo (12th) -- as well as several other Division-I institutions, including Dayton (5th) and Ohio State (10th).

Individually, senior Kara Butler led the way for the Brown and Orange, placing fifth of 288 total runners. Butler's time of 18:11.0 put her just over 25 seconds off the pace of individual winner Lilian Jelimo of Cincinnati.

Senior Jamie Roflow was 12th overall in the meet, finishing in the time of 18:36.7. The trio of junior Carly Wells (19:19.7), senior Kylie Korsnack (19:20.6) and sophomore Barbara Powers (19:21.2) finished as a group, placing from 36th to 38th to round out BG's scorers. Soph Autumn Dettmann was 55th overall, while classmate Ashley Fischer placed 63rd on the afternoon.

The Falcon men had a score of 690 on the day. Sophomore Christopher Moody led all BG finishers in the men's race, placing 66th overall in a time of 27:06.9. Two more sophs rounded out the top-three finishers for the Brown and Orange, as Jesse Smuda was 129th (28:10.0) and Abraham Busienei 138th (28:17.2). Senior Aaron Smuda (149th), soph Jeff Ehler (208th), freshman Ben Leininger (216th) and sophomore John Bernard (223rd) also competed in the 280-man race for the Falcons.

Malone, paced by individual winner Nik Schweikert, won the men's race, with a score of 68 points to outlast Cincinnati (84) and Ohio State (101).

The Falcons will return to action next Saturday, Oct. 18, with the final home match of the 2008 season, the Falcon Invitational. The 6K women's race will begin at 10:45 a.m., with the 10K men's race to start at 11:30 a.m.
