Mercier Inks Professional Contract with Adirondack Thunder

Glens Falls, N.Y. -Â The Adirondack Thunder, the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, announced that they have signed 2017 graduate of the Bowling Green hockey program Pierre-Luc Mercier to a standard player contract.

The forward appeared in 157 games in his collegiate career with the Falcons, where he totaled 76 points by 22 goals and 54 assists in four seasons of play. Mercier collected at least 16 points in each of his four seasons with the Bowling Green program, including a career-high 25 points as a sophomore by eight goals and a team-leading 17 assists. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Mercier net four points by one goal and three assists in five Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoff games this past spring.Â

Mercier is the fourth player from the 2017 senior class to sign a professional contract, and sixth overall from a 2016-17 team that made Bowling Green's first appearance in a conference championship since 1988. Mercier will join former 2016-17 teammates Matt Pohlkamp and Kevin Dufour in the ECHL, while Sean Walker, Chris Nell and Mark Friedman secured contracts in the American Hockey League (AHL).
