Volleyball to Kickstart 2017 Campaign with Exhibition at Fort Wayne

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green volleyball program will continue preparations for the 2017 regular season by competing in exhibition play this Saturday, Aug. 19 at Fort Wayne. The Falcons will first serve off against the Mastodons at 3 p.m. in the Gates Sports Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The Falcons return 11 players from the successful 2016 season, which includes just one senior on the 15-member roster. Joining senior outside hitter Nicole Slimko on the court this season will be four juniors, six sophomores and four freshmen. Bowling Green ultimately finished 21-10 on the season, paired with a 10-6 record in Mid-American Conference action.
Fort Wayne finished the 2016 season with a 13-18 record, including a 9-7 mark in the Summit League. The 'Dons return 10 of 16 players from the 2016 campaign, and will include three seniors in middle blocker Natalie Seiler, and outside hitters Barbara Maximiano and Lauren Hoffman. With 396 kills, the 'Dons also return a top attacker in junior Nicole Rightnowar. All-time, the Falcons hold an 8-7 advantage over Fort Wayne.
Bowling Green's regular season officially begins on Friday, Aug. 25 when they host the Hampton Inn Invitational through Aug. 26. Duquesne, UIC and Xavier will all participate in the round robin tournament at the Stroh Center.
