COLUMBUS, OHIO – Jude Adjei-Barimah, cornerback for the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers, returned to his hometown of Columbus, Ohio on Sunday, July 23, to host his inaugural Back-to-School Giveaway at The Church of the Pentecost.
Adjei-Barimah surprised 70 children, ages 8 to 13, at his home church with Sprayground backpacks filled with back-to-school supplies and donated items from the Buccaneers and his alma mater, Bowling Green State University. He also spent time with each child, posing for photos and giving each an autographed poster. Domino's Pizza helped supply the lunch for everyone in attendance.
"It's always been a dream of mine, to give back in this fashion," said Adjei-Barimah. "Sunday was a truly special event. I've been blessed with opportunities that have put me in a position to hopefully make a difference in my hometown community. We started small, but God willing, we'll be able to grow the event each year to serve more children."
A product of Columbus Northland High School, Adjei-Barimah played four years at Bowling Green before signing with the Buccaneers in 2015.
