2017-18 Schedule
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green women's golf program released its 2017-18 schedule Friday afternoon, which will include six tournaments in the fall season, and five in the spring of 2018.
Highlighting the schedule are two Bowling Green-hosted events, including the fifth annual Mid-American Match Play Challenge in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. from Feb. 5-6, 2018 and the eighth annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio from April 7-8, 2018. Last season, the Falcons had a strong showing at both home events by finishing 2-1 in the Mid-American Match Play Challenge, and by placing second overall at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational.
Bowling Green will open the 2017-18 slate by making its seventh consecutive appearance at the Redbird Invitational in Normal, Ill., an event in which they claimed the title in 2015. The Falcons will then travel to Yorktown, Ind. to compete in its fourth straight Cardinal Classic, hosted by Ball State University at the Players Club.
The Falcons will round out the month of September with action at the two-day Mary Fossum Invitational hosted by Michigan State University. The event will take place at Forest Akers West on Sept. 23-24 and will be the Falcons first appearance in Lansing, Mich. since the 2012 tournament.
After finishing sixth overall last season, Bowling Green will return to the KZoo Classic hosted by Western Michigan from Oct. 2-3 at The Moors Golf Club in Portage, Mich., prior to competing in the first Shirley Spork EMU Invitational from Oct. 9-10. The Eastern Michigan-hosted event will take place in Ypsilanti, Mich.
Rounding out the fall campaign will be the two-day Dayton Fall Invitational, an event in which the Falcons finished sixth overall last season. Prior to the 2016 tournament, Bowling Green last appeared in the Dayton Fall Invite in 2009 and finished second overall. This fall, the event is to be held at the NRC Country Club from Oct. 16-17.
The Bowling Green women's golf program will resume competitive action for the spring season at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club on Feb. 5-6 when it hosts the Mid-American Match Play Challenge, prior to flying out west to take part in its fifth consecutive Rio Verde Invitational from Feb. 23-25. The three-day tournament is to be hosted by Western Michigan at the Rio Verde Country Club.
After a three-week break, the Falcons will return to play March 19-21 in the ORU/SFA Spring Break Shootout, hosted by Oral Roberts and Stephen F. Austin in Dallas, Texas. A historic event for Bowling Green, the Falcons had carded a record low 54-hole team score of 901, +61 at the three-day event in 2016 to tie for sixth overall.
Rounding out the regular season for the eighth consecutive year will be the Bowling Green-hosted Dolores Black Falcon Invitational. The Falcons will finish off the regular season at home on the Stone Ridge course in Bowling Green, Ohio on April 7-8.
The Mid-American Conference Championship will conclude the 2017-18 campaign from April 20 through April 22 at the Naperville Country Club. Northern Illinois will host the three-day event in which the Falcons finished ninth overall this season.
