Aliyah Gustafson Named Academic All-District

Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University redshirt junior Aliyah Gustafson has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Track/Cross Country Team. Gustafson maintains a 3.922 grade point average in exercise science and qualified for the NCAA East Region Preliminary Round in the shot put.
Gustafson was one of 10 members of the District 5 All-District Team. All of the members of the eight academic all-district teams will be placed on the ballot for Academic All-America status. District 5 consists of all Division I institutions in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
Gustafson placed in the top seven at the MAC Championships in both the shot put and discus, finishing fourth in the shot put with a season-best throw of 51-feet-4.5, the fifth-best performance in BGSU history. She was 39th at the NCAA regionals with a toss of 48-0. During the season, Gustafson won the shot put at the Kip Janvrin Open, the dual meet against Toledo, and the Toledo Invitational. She also placed seventh at the MAC Championships in the discus, throwing 153-11. She tossed the discus a career-best 154-0 at the dual meet against Toledo and won the event at the Kip Janvrin Open.
Gustafson was one of five Mid-American Conference representatives on the District 5 Academic All-District Team, joining Eastern Michigan's Jordan McDermitt, Northern Illinois' Hope Schmelzle, and Kent State's Danniel Thomas and Sam Tollerud. Indiana's Sydney Clute, Michigan's Erin Finn, Notre Dame's Jessica Harris, Cincinnati's Juliana Madzia and Illinois State's Amanda McClain rounded out the team.
