April 13, 2017 | Football
Bowling Green, Ohio – Head coach Mike Jinks and the Bowling Green State University football team have announced the additions of two student-athletes to the team's 2017 signing class. The two players to sign National Letters of Intent are James Carolan and Josh Croslen.
Carolan is a long snapper from Anthem, Ariz. and is currently a senior at Boulder Creek High School. He is one of the most highly regarded players at his position in the country. He ranks third nationally in the Kohl's rating system for long snappers, and 247 Sports lists him as one of the top 50 offensive centers in the country. As a junior in 2015, Carolan earned first team All-Section honors. Following his senior season, he was first team 6A Desert Valley All-Region and All-Arizona honorable mention. In addition, he played in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl in Oakland, Calif. as a member of the Atlantic squad. Carolan played for coach Anthony Casarella during his time with the Jaguars.
Josh Croslen is a defensive lineman from Cibolo, Texas. He attends Steele High School, where Jinks served as the school's first football head coach from 2005-13. Croslen is a three-year starter for Steele, who won 41-of-46 games during that time. He helped lead the team to a 14-2 record and a state championship game berth in his senior season. As a senior, Croslen earned second-team All-State honors by earning 75 tackles, 28 of which were for a loss. He posted ten sacks for a total loss of 79 yards and added 13 quarterback hurries. Croslen earned 20 sacks, 63 TFLs and 29 quarterback hurries in his career. He is listed in the top 60 nationally among defensive tackles by 247 Sports.
These two players join the remainder of a deep class that is one of the best in Bowling Green history. The group is currently ranked the second-best class in the Mid-American Conference by both 247Sports and Scout.
BGSU will begin its 2017 season on Saturday, Sept. 2 in East Lansing, Mich. against the Michigan State Spartans. The Falcons are one of 20 FBS programs who will begin the season with an active winning streak of at least three games.
