Falcons Combine for Four Below Par Rounds in First Day of Lone Star Invite

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – After the first two rounds of the Lone Star Invitational, the Bowling Green men's golf team earned a total score of 583, +7. The Falcons carded a round of 287 to open competition, and completed the day with a score of 296 in the afternoon's second round, combining for a total of 35 birdies and 95 par scores through 36-holes. The first round score of 287 is the lowest round for the Falcons since the Inverness Intercollegiate in Sept. 2016.
Leading the Falcons is senior Jose Narro, who opened with a par score of 72, followed by an under par mark of 71. On his way to totaling a two-round score of 143, -1, Narro topped the Falcons with 25 par scores on the day, and currently sits in a tie for 26th overall in a field of 79 players.
Opening with a below par score of 71 was sophomore Pablo Heredia Iglesias. On his was to marking a second round of 73 for a 36-hole score of 144, E, Iglesias marked 11 birdies, the third most of the tournament thus far. Additionally, the Sevilla, Spain native has averaged 3.95, -1 on par 4 scoring, the best of the Bowling Green lineup, and currently sits tied for 31st overall in the tournament field.
After shaving off three strokes from his first round of 74, senior Brett Rinker carded an under par mark of 71 in the second round to finish the first day of action. With a total score of 145, +1, Rinker is tied for 38th in the tournament, and leads the Falcons in par 5 scoring with a stroke average of 4.38, -5. In addition to 10 birdies, the Slippery Rock, Pa. native has tallied 16 par scores heading into the third and final round.
By marking an eagle early on, redshirt sophomore Max Rispler earned a team low round of 70 in the first round of competition. Although the second round consisted of a score of 82, Rispler marks a total score of 152, +8 heading into the final day of the Lone Star Invitational. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native earned six birdies and 17 pars in addition to an eagle.
Appearing in his third event of the season is freshman Nick Hofland, who earned scores of 78 and 81 in the first and second rounds, respectively. With a total mark of 159, +15, Hofland tallied two birdies and 21 par scores with one more round to play.
Max McGreevy of Oklahoma currently leads the tournament field individually with a score of 69, 63 – 132, -12. In the team standings, Illinois currently tops the leaderboard with a team score of 272, 277 – 549, -27.
