Pohlkamp, Rose Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Matt Pohlkamp and gymnast Kayla Rose.
Male Athlete of the Week
Matt Pohlkamp, a senior from Baxter, Minn., scored the game-tying goal, forcing overtime, for BGSU Hockey in the WCHA Championship game against Michigan Tech. BGSU trailed Michigan Tech 2-0 heading to the third, but just 24 seconds after Joe McKeown cut the deficit in half, Pohlkamp forced a turnover in Michigan Tech's end and tied the contest. His unassisted score came at the 7:00 mark of the third period. Pohlkamp had two shots for the contest and was a +1 on-ice.
Female Athlete of the Week
Kayla Rose, a sophomore from Hamilton, Ohio, earned a co-MAC Championship on the floor exercise, posting a 9.950 score. It was her career-best scoring, surpassing a previous 9.875, and helped the Falcons to a runner-up finish at the MAC Championships. She will be an alternate for NCAA Regionals with a 9.850 RQS on floor.
